I'd put Chelsea alongside City and United simply for signing Kante.

Take out the reference to Leicester and this post has been made every summer since 2013. Every summer is a huge summer, chance to step up etc. I think we've done good business. Our sales have been long anticipated and planned for, and almost everyone who hasn't been sold has been tied down to a contract. I'm a bit concerned about our options up front and in defensive midfield, but it seems the club have filled the positions they wanted. I'd much rather have a club with a plan I don't understand yet than a club that clearly doesn't have one and goes for deadline day scrambles.
-
Yes, in a way. We've bought more players than we've sold, so it's partly about giving them time. The only departure I'm almost certain hasn't been replaced with the same quality is Wanyama.
-
If Fonte was going, he'd have gone already. No chance we'd leave it this late to sell and replace.
-
Arsenal wouldn't send him here without some assurance he'd be in the starting XI!
-
It's still early days for Hojbjerg. He looks good but will he settle and improve if he's pushed down the pecking order by Wilshere?
-
Having him alongside Davis/Hojbjerg in the middle would be absolutely brilliant, but I'd be worried about upsetting the squad's equilibrium by bringing in a highly paid star on loan in what is by far our best stocked position. How would you feel if you were Ward-Prowse or Reed? EDIT: That's on the assumption that he would play in the middle of the diamond rather than the base. If we think he can shield the back four I'd be over the moon, because we haven't replaced Wanyama.

I assume Arsenal would be willing to cover some of his wages. I'd love his talent here but as a personality I'm not sure it would work.

ADAM LALLANA: "I didn't want to be Southampton captain"
DuncanRG replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
Personally think he comes across perfectly well in that interview. I wonder if he ever expressed his concerns over the captaincy and, if so, what we did about it. Anyone know if it's left to the manager or other staff have a say? -
Yep, they've definitely signed him to take the pressure off Puel for a day or two. Papering those cracks all day long.
-
It suggests we won't play them both. I don't know much about Boufal, but could he play as a sort-of striker like Redmond? I'd be interested to know what the club told Tadic before he signed his new contract.
-
It's the high expectations which come with having a really good team coupled with the age-old mentality of Saints (and I'm sure other) fans that something going a bit wrong is in fact going very wrong. You're right, impossible. Can't possibly happen.

One. Game.

The New Formation Thread : The Puel 4-4-2 Diamond
DuncanRG replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
The only thing which bothers me is that we still seem content with three proven forwards, even though we're playing two up top. Putting Redmond there may pay dividends but I still think a little more depth is needed. -
What a load of rubbish. Have you seen the centre halves some of the top teams have been fielding? Fonte's one of the best in the league. He'd improve any defence besides Tottenham's.
-
I like that they've used a picture which makes him look about 16.
-
Are these the groups they would go into if they qualify or something else? Assume we don't know which one we're going in yet, but if we have to avoid West Ham then we'd be lucky avoiding Fenerbahce.
-
Fifth.
-
Because losing players weakens the team and it would be nice to restore that strength! Sky reporting that Leicester have agreed a £7.5m fee for that Polish lad, Kaputska.

Would it be good for Saints to do a similar trip?

Hasn't Krueger said we're doing something along these lines in the USA? -
Katharina Liebherr here for a good while yet

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
DuncanRG replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
I don't know - quite probably never. But that doesn't explain why the vast majority of this violence happens in Muslim countries and kills Muslims, as the poster above pointed out. I love this. You can prove anything with facts, can't you? -

That's a fair point in one sense, though very few jihadists actually practice Islam properly or live by its laws.
