You can't help people wondering if we are going to see any of Liebherr's cash or if the club will run as a self-funding business. On the +ve side I really can't think Pards would have accepted a job on the third tier if he hadn't been promised a considerable amount of money to spend. But on the down side he still hasn't employed his assistants, we have signed only one player who is in the 'potential as youth, lost his way the past few years, looking to re-build his career' mould we saw all to much of last season. If Stern is also off you would have to think, as well as them being a league above us, money they would have to be offering more cash.

No. We need to put all available money into the football team that is playing in L1 not wasting cash on 'worthy' causes like women's football. If they want to play then fine but why should SFC subsidise them? I'm sure if the Southampton Saints got funding then the Southampton Womens Crown Green Bowling team would want it too....

Downes was featured in that C4 programme whose name I have forgotton! It was where they trained someone up in a certain profession and then tried to convince people that they hadn't just walked off of the street. Downes was manager of Brentford at the time and was responsible for training this bloke up to try and convince a panel that he was not the ringer.

Any sizeable organisation will need to retain a PR company if only to manage things like the Dyer/BWP situation last season. Us Saints fans do like to find something to complain about don't we! Re: LM, he was a very good manager for us but from the day he left the post of manager has done nothing but be a hinderance to the club. Since he left the period we have had by far the most success, under WGS and Hoddle, was when LM wasn't even going to the games. Co-incidence? I do not think so. I guess you have to have a huge ego to be a succesful manager (or mediocre accountant turned teacher) and you have to laugh at how LM awarded himself a testominial, but I'm sure you will see Fergie at Man Yoo take a back seat when he leaves knowing that having him hanging around for the next 20 years will not benefit the club at all. LM always seems to group himself with Clough and Paisley as some sort of holy trinity of 80s managers, but in terms of acheivements he is not fit to lace their boots. In fact a cv of 1 FA Cup final win, one promotion to the top flight and one relegation from the top flight coupled with an obsession with money could well apply to LM or a certain H Redknapp.
