Saints 2 V 0 Doncaster Post Match Chat!!
Kingsland Red replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
We certainly controlled the controllables today, never looked threatened; were patient; and got the reward. COYR -
Don't agree he was better than Chappers, too much of a one trick pony. Good impact player though.

Hull were eleven games unbeaten before we played there. I believe we are now twelve games unbeaten, the best for the division this season. A fantastic record for the team also taking the pressure at the top.

...is spreading: Northampton manager Aidy Boothroyd has explained the secret of his success since taking charge at Sixfields. He told BBC Northampton: "It's about getting the right people on the bus, getting them in the right seats and making sure you have a driver who knows where he's going." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/17485405

This. Norwich only got on the bus in at the last minute. We're a promoted club that left out the 'finding our feet' bit and sat at the top to be gunned down from the off. A massive difference.

Are we still unpleasant club to deal with?
Kingsland Red replied to thorpie the sinner's topic in The Saints
The written media rarely report the facts; the tv and radio journalists are just lazy and churn out the same questions looking for problems and therefore get the same answers. Hence Talk Sh*te this afternoon is dedicated to slagging off Big Fat Sam rather than praising Saints halting Hull's 11 game unbeaten run. Credit to NA, he rarely answers the standard ' poor referee decision' question with the answer they want; and the club never posts details of player injuries etc. We are Southampton, we do what we want ! -
Hull 0 - 2 Saints - Post Match Reaction Thread

Awesome - watching Middlesbro at West Ham and listening to Saints spoil someone elses unbeaten run on Solent. Good times ! CY Super Reds !!! -
I'm sure opposing teams do their homework, but I quite like the way the sound bite style of the media allow lazy journalists to portray us as a "One man team". SRL is obviously able to take the pressure, thus giving AL, Spiderman, Cork etc little exposure. Swansea and Norwich must have found a similar ignorance quite useful in the EPL this season.

To the OP I would say that watching Saints in the Premiership was great for many years. Firstly because, obviously, we were looking to win but secondly seeing quality opposition which meant if we were not winning at least we were losing to recognisable quality players. This was not the case in defeats against teams like Brentford, Rochdale or Bristol City.

Argentina upping the ante on the Falklands....
Kingsland Red replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Lounge
For what it's worth I have an interest in The Falklands. My in-laws have lived there for years. Since 1840 the islands have been inhabited by (very patriot) Brits, originally a lot of Scottish croft farmer types. The Japanese whale fishing is regulated in the South Atlantic from the Falklands (By my brother in law) The islanders treat Margaret Thatcher as a Saint and have total affiliation with the UK , with the Governor reporting to the UK government and the British Antarctic Survey being based in Cambridge. Did you know their sixth form college is Peter Symonds in Winchester where the students have a lodge? These islands are not like Diego Garcia where the indigenous population was removed. In fact the neighbouring South Sandwich Islands, also a British dependency, are unpopulated despite issuing stamps (South Georgia and The South Sandwich Islands) with the Queen on. -

Millwall 2 Southampton 3 - Post Match Reaction

Need a new DAB digital radio,it went flying when Lambo got his third and I leapt up punching the air (radio). Awesome CY Super R -
Watched Bilbao twice destroy Manure, with a fit, skillful and well organised team. Let's not fall into the media trap and over estimate the English top 5 clubs and their millions wasted on players giving 80% week in week out. There's the model in red and white stripes for Saints to emulate. Ole los Rojos !
-
Always easier to chase than actually break through and reach a target - hence the amazing feat for a newly promoted club sitting at the top to be shot at for so long.
-
14,000 ?I thought that is P*mp*y's default figure. Didn't we get far more at the end of the Poortvielt Wotte relegation season ?
-
God lost his way during the first world war for 50% of Brits, so in the now I thank ML, NC, NA and then the major player signings, in that order.

What are the odds on Westwood getting evicted from St Marys, if they survive until then ?
-
I posted on the post match thread that 4-2-2-2 meant we had no means of stretching Barnsley width wise. It also meant some players were out of their comfort zone. I would suggest Guly and Hammond suffered the most in a crowded midfield. The Barnsley left back was rarely picked up, but rarely got forward and did little, despite the space he was afforded. NA clearly did his homework there.
-
Not a comparison, just an observation. Too many moaners today around me. Give the lad a chance, he is one of us.
-
I agree with Roger. I watched an unfit lazy enigma for many years at The Dell and loved him despite the usual moaners giving him stick. His testamonial was one of the most emotional nights at St Marys and he got a suite at St Marys named after him.
-
Job done today. Not convinced by 4-2-2-2 as we lack a runner down the wings with Guly and AL inside. Chung did well and Guly and Lallana created a fair amount in front of Hammond 'The Crab' and an awesome Spiderman. Poor Sharpey still looks a bit over weight. Onwards - together as one !
-
Are WHam starting a trend here, they have enough players to do so ! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17302329

Age 50 First home game 1987 v West Ham when we moved to Winchester from North Kent. ST holder since St Marys opened First away game, I think, Gillingham away, league cup, no idea when, won 2-0 Beattie got both

Lallana created many chances last night, Messi has 4 goals after 65 minutes tonight. Mmmm !!
