  1. How has Tomas Hajto slipped under the radar, I still have nightmares. Thank Markus we're now back on the Utopian Uplands and can leave all these names to Fitzhugh Fella and his fellow historians to big up (or not ).
  2. Has anybody else ever noticed the permanent hoardings about mid height up the grandstands at stadiums such as Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge or The Emirates, such as "John Terry the King" or "(club name) -Pride of London". I see even QPR are at it, and I was wondering what "statements" we could come up with for St Marys.....
  3. The relief after the second goal v Watford at Villa Park - and realisation that Saints were in the cup final.
  4. Latter day Andy McNab (Bravo Two Zero) Will be a good read.
  5. Still fun to vote though !
  6. If Carlsberg did irony - from The Snooze trust pledge article comments: 85 dashizzle Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 08:21 PM Ignored this month's council tax to get my £100 in - well worth it, although it's going to be a long month if the other £900 becomes due! Report Unsuitable Priceless !
  7. He's proably on a photo shoot for the cover of the first programme in the Prem !!
  8. Mmm Wolves. I remember the first game I ever experienced with Saints outside the top division - a boring 0-0 draw at home to a typical championnship team - Wolves - in a game that seemed to go on forever, with Fuller (all £90,000 of unfit crap) and Kenwyne posturing up front. How times have changed - for the better.
  9. Spiderman has been my favourite player for several years. His range of passing, both long and short; composure, balance and time on the ball; as well as his strength and ability to see the opposition pass and break up the play regaining possession has, bizarrely, hardly been noticed outside our club. I hope he gets his chance with his national team now he will be getting top division football. We are very lucky to have had him in the lower leagues and now he has the platform to showcase himself.
  10. Watched the BBC coverage on iplayer today. The Itchen North black tie lads' half time interview with that Dan blokey refers to it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01h0qch/Match_of_the_Day_Live_2011_2012_Last_Day_of_the_Championship_Southampton_v_Coventry_City/ (Around 1.03.33)
  11. I fully expect NA to still go through the exercise of drawing a blue line under Cov and then the season, otherwise his records would only cover 45 games and the analyst's computer will say "No".
  12. The big difference, and something I begrudgingly respect Lowe for is that the debt was to a monolith - Aviva and not vast numbers of local businesses. Down the road the debt includes local businesses and charities that would be the support on the 'terraces' - ie. biting the hand that feeds.
  13. This from The Torygraph: "The record crowd inside St Mary’s were certainly making the most of it. Portsmouth, who have been relegated into Division One, were predictably mocked. Past heroes, from Marian Pahars to Matthew Le Tissier, were enthusiastically remembered while Liebherr, the man whose millions have underpinned Southampton’s extraordinary rise, was loudly remembered. Most of, though, the joyous message was uncomplicated: ‘We are Southampton, We are Premier League’."
  14. This, not a vital goal but perfect execution.
  15. Oh I forgot - looking forward to getting to bed an hour earlier on a Saturday night rather than waiting for Manish and Clem.
  16. Miss - Proper football supporters passionate about their team , like the Cov guys I walked to the ground with yesterday chewing the fat about Saints, SISU etc. Not looking forward to- the analysis paralysis of the media vultures/pundits/'experts'(WGS and MLT excepted) from Sky, Talksport and the BBC who manage to distort the facts for their own benefit.
  17. Nigel only does 2nd, and I'd take that right now !
  18. And on the pedantic front when did you see a game where we had one, yes one free kick (except off side), given our way over the entire game.
  19. Thank you Markus, I hope your camera can focus on the celebrations from up there !
  20. Reassuring that the players will be in 'the right state of arousal' rather than 'a right state of arousal' !! Last para !! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2750570,00.html
  21. Lazy journalism-the article indicates the 20p in the pound offered to creditors last time round, but no mention that none of it has been paid !
  22. A few weeks ago I did the predictor thingy on the BBC. Had Saints to lose at Boro and beat Coventry to go up, seemed realistic at the time. Let's not be too down regarding the Boro result, maybe our expectations were lifted too much for that game after seeing the team give a good showing against Reading and then comfortably beating Peterboro. Sun Tzu, bouncebackability, positive thinking, Trust in NA etc. We're in the best place on Saturday, much better than being at Palace, Watford or Upton Park and with the best chance of winning. COYR
  23. not so: If Southampton draw on the final day and West Ham win but score four more goals than the Saints, their records would be identical. This would bring about a special play-off, in which the winner would secure promotion while the loser would enter the regular play-offs. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17724582
  24. The great thing these days is the players want success as much as the supporters. No journeyman here taking a ludicrous salary for going through the motions, like the last season in the Premiership and the pre -Liebherr Cortese takeover, with particular reference to Burley's signings.
  25. Nice one St Chalet !
