Even though they play in completely different positions???

Want to reconsider Mane???

Interesting that a few days ago people on here couldn't wait for him to go to Africa so he couldn't play for us.

Sheffield United seemed to do ok away at QPR today so maybe these games aren't that easy?

Halo, a friend of mine heads up a RASSO unit in Kent. I'll have a word with her about the Bree ruling. As an aside to the rape conviction, I bothers me that so many young women seem so desperate to become a WAG that they will let their partners do what the hell they like. This would not seem the first time Evans booked a room for an evening without any intention of spending the night. He is said to have boasted to the police that he could have had any of the girls in the clubs. Classy. His girlfriend looks very sweet and it is nice that she has stood by him. She knows her Ched and he would not rape anyone. No dear, he would book a room for him and his mate, him and his mate would go out on the pull. He was quite happy to go to the hotel where his mate had taken a woman, walk into the room, perform sex acts on this woman and walk out again but he is a decent guy and she will stand by him because he is not a rapist. What on earth goes through her mind? Did her persuade her that this was a one off - a momentary lapse because of all of the pressure he is under at work? Men get away with crap because women let them. Once you let yourself become a doormat don't be surprised if people wipe their feet on you. It is a shame that she hasn't got the self worth to stand up and say that she may not think that he is guilty of rape, but he is certainly guilty of being a scumbag, dump him and find a guy who doesn't behave like that.

It is a bit like the argument that if a girl is wearing "provocative" clothes then she is clearly asking for it. Many years ago a friend of mine was raped at a music festival. She went to find a police officer to report it and she was dressed in a tight t shirt and shorts. When she said she had been raped he said I am not surprised dressed like that. I agree that girls should be careful but that is the problem. People do go out to have a good time and often have too much to drink. It doesn't give anyone else the right to have sex with them though if they are in no fit state to make an informed decision and that is what the Evans case is all about. I do agree with you that I am surprised too that his buddy got away with it. As a father of three teenage girls myself, I not only have to worry that they are looking after themselves, but I have to worry that the male friends they hang out with look after them properly too. Fortunately none of them drink or do drugs at the moment as far as I know but you only have to find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time to end up with trouble. The CPS people working in the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences teams are massively overworked sadly.

Molby was a big lad but he could play. Johnstone did a job for the team too in a way that Long does for us. Liverpool were a quality team with that extra bit of quality in positions where you need it most - a bit like England in 1966.
-
You make the point "by some pundits" and surely that it was it is, just their opinion - just as you have yours. Some people think that Gerrard has been a better player than Giggs and Scholes. You could argue that Giggs and Scholes played with better players. There were times when Gerrard carried that Liverpool team on his own. Neither Giggs nor Scholes ever had to do that because they were playing with more quality. These are just opinions. No matter what, the bloke is clearly a legend and had a fantastic career.
-
Isnt that the point of the law though, to protect vulnerable people? Just because someone happens to be with someone, wherever that is, if they are not in a state to be able to consent then it doesn't give the other person the right to rape them.
-
To be fair I don't think him going made any difference to the likes of Lallana and Lovren etc bailing out. The worship is because the guy is a quality player and proved that you don't have to play for a big club to get a game for England.
-
Clyne has already shown more for England than Chambers no matter CL experience or not. Chambers will have to up his game big time if he wants back in.
-
Although it hasn't worked out, he can always say that he played for Liverpool and I hope they paid him a fair wack.
-
She said she had no recollection of what happened so that includes no recollection of consenting to either of them. Just because she was able to perform oral (she was also able to walk) it doesn't mean to say she was in control of what she was doing. I know what you are saying about the other guy but can only assume that the jury figured that because she had spent more time with the other guy and had travelled to the hotel with him that was enough for them to consider that she was up for it with him. As I have said before, I think he is very lucky not to have been convicted himself.
-
If her drink was spiked it could have happened earlier in the evening. Even if not she was by evidence of CCTV footage clearly out of it and I agree with what you say about Evans taking advantage.
-
I don't know and think he has been very lucky. I can only assume that the jury felt because she had spent more time with him and went to the hotel with him that amounted to consent?
-
Agreed. Arsenal's defence has been very poor this season and much of this down to Chambers.
-
What do you do? Lock yourself away? She says she thinks her drink was spiked. Hard to prove either way. I don't know what happened previously but on this occasion she says she has no recollection of what happened and did not accuse anyone of raping her. What about Evans? He walks in, nails someone he has never met before when she was very clearly intoxicated then walks out again. Don't you think he left himself in a vulnerable position??? You seem to be firmly in the camp of if you go out and get hammered you deserve whatever happens to you?
-
Good point!!!

Ricardo Fuller.

Kelvin Davis has taken more than his fair share over the years. But what about the players who got away with it? Terry Hurlock was awful but I don't remember him getting stick and of course the legend that is Frannie Benali was very poor for most of his career (although he did improve towards the end of his career).
-
True but he isn't the only one who hasn't played so well for England - a team we should remember that has done nothing since 1966.
-
Isnt that what the players pay their agents for? He may well of had a word but I assume they have minds of their own and we know from Lovren that his was already in Merseyside. I also seem to remember a certain Michael Channon "tapping up" Kevin Keegan when they were room mates for England.
-
Chambers may well become a good player one day and maybe he has been thrown in at the deep end too soon at Arsenal, but from what I have seen so far this season I can see why we took the £16m and ran. What with Lovren as well both very good bits of business.
-
It is simple, the guy has been one of the best English Premiership players ever. England have been poor for some time now, even with England's other sweetheart David Beckham. To blame Gerrard for a poor England is harsh (and who will ever forget the 1-5 thrashing of Germany?).
