Derby v Saints (FA Cup - 3rd Round) Build Up and match thread
Pilchards replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Already that’s incorrect because RH has said Gunn is playing this Saturday. -
No way will we get rid of more than a few players as they will be happy to sit on their wages and rot in the reserves. If nobody comes in for Cedric then we are stuck with him for starters.
-
So what will RH do tonight? Try for a point or save some players for a decent cup run starting Saturday?

Is it time to give Angus Gunn a run in the PL
Pilchards replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
This is pretty true and it’s worrying our coach will carrying on teaching these bad habits. My Dad got it spot on yesterday by saying McCarthey has lost confidence in his defence and it causes a keeper to get nervous. Forster certainly went this way too. -
Hope he was not watching porn?

Going to be interesting as it’s obvious the players are going to be tired from last night. Our captain will return which is great news and it would be nice for Cedric to make an appearance too. I personally would play Jack Stephens in Romeu role and put a couple of young front runners that will keep some pressure on the City back four. McCarthy Cedric Vestergaard Bederack (can’t spell it I know) Yoshi Targett Stephens Hoijberg Moore/Obi/Barnes Ings Redmond

It was hilarious when Armstrong was handed a note by Austin and he read it twice and then flicked it over and back again. I still don’t think he knew what the message meant.
-
Probably sat down with RH on his one 2 one and moaned about how he wanted to move last summer. I expect RH only wants those 100% committed and is making a statement here. Same goes for Hoedt.

Hearing Ings is rested for City which is just madness.
-
Just seen Gabbi in town. Miserable git who’s strolling along slowly unless he’s just finished training and is fu.cked.
-
Bumping this up as it seems our RH has found the right players for now. Just realised that he chose our U18’s capt on the bench vs Huddersfield which must be a kick in the teeth for the older defenders.
-
Obafemi is a brilliant option for us and he brings excitement too. As a tiring defender he is the last thing I would want on the pitch. Well done RH for selecting him over the obvious options, and the academy must be buzzing right now with the like of Tyrone getting a few minutes too. PS Who do you think might be the next young lad that will get a few minutes in the busy period?

He would of loved Fonte then..... NOT

Everton away we are weaker but we are strong against them at home.
-
Just a thought as the Hammers are claiming we are a bogey team to them. Who is our bogey team where we often get spanked time and time again? I do remember Newcastle used to have a dreadful record against us at the dell as it went on for something like 17 years without a win.

Everton v Spurs 2-6 Same as Grobelaar Game scoreline

Reckon Grob made a mint at the bookies on that game. -
According to KUMB they think we are now like Brazil

Good question. IMHO it looks like Reed might of been the one holding us back in the last few years with his tame appointments. Perhaps Gao might have a football man on his side that might have some ambition for the club?

It’s a miracle that we are winning games even at Xmas, and it’s obviously down to the impact of our new manager. A clear change from me is having a game plan and an identity as a football team. Marking at the set pieces yesterday I noticed the 3 centre backs don’t mark anyone. They attack the ball as a free spirit. Our attacking purposes are more direct and full of running too. I love the fact Targett and Valery are sometimes leading the front line alongside Ings.
-
Love the set piece setup as our three towering centre backs spread out and attack the hall rather than man mark. Finally a manager that has some tactics rather than a dinosaur that wants huff and puff.

Saints 3 - Arsenal 2 - I should start threads more often
Pilchards replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
Indeed I loved our tempo of the game. I watched quite a bit of training recently and I have noticed the players are crashing into each other loads more. I agree it’s not great for our injury purposes but it surely makes the players more fitter and stronger during the proper matches. How good did it feel when loads of Arsenal players were going to ground plus the way we scared the shi.te out of any players that likes to dribble with it. -
Would think we should win this if we can get Cedric, Redmond and Lemina fit again. Ralph is a top, top manager and we will soon be looking back thinking how were we so shi.te? Going 1-3 and a satisfying performance all round.
