  1. I still blame him for those 2 goals we conceded against Pompey.
  2. But are they being held to account? We hear of these bad events in hospitals, old people's homes and children's homes but is anyone sacked or prosecuted? We get the same old "lessons will be learnt" bollox and maybe a few of the junior people may be reprimanded when in truth, it should be the people at the top who should be held to account. Even if a senior manager resigns they often later appear at another authority. Harry Truman had a plaque on his desk "The Buck Stops Here". It should apply to all those at the top of these organisations.
  3. Took my lad to his first away game in mid-October '98. It was at Highbury and we went into the game with a grand total of 1 point. Managed a 1-1 draw and doubled our points total.
  4. When she was setting out her plans as part of her leadership campaign, she said that raising Corporation Tax didn't bring in any extra cash as it stifled growth. Now she's decided to raise it does that mean that she's joined the "anti-growth coalition"? I know that she changes her mind more often than she changes her knickers, bur she now appears for and against something at the same time (quantum politics).

    Coronavirus

My primary reason for getting vaccinated was to protect me.
  6. Apple intend to go to USB-C next year with the IPhone 15, so I would imagine Lightning will gradually wither away
  7. Still trying to blame today’s problems on the last Labour government, Kwarteng said the Conservatives had reversed a “story of national decline”. But then said his policies were necessary because, after 12 years of Tory rule, “the path ahead of us was one of slow, managed decline”. Which is it?
  8. He was later quoted as saying that the Prime Minister decided to reverse it. Probably a bit of revenge for Truss trying to distance herself by saying that it was his decision to abolish it.
  9. A few rumblings of discontent among the troops...
  10. With the Queen being 96, I'm sure that they've been quietly rehearsing for years. Just as the media keep pre-written obituaries for prominent people.
  11. Good day for a drive. Went out this morning searching for a newspaper and had a bit of a drive around. Centre of town deserted although I noticed the Marlands appeared to be open. A few small shops open. Tried listening to the radio in the car but the 8 stations I tried all had the funeral.
  12. A friend of Mrs ecuk268 is travelling up to London today to "see the queue". It's already a tourist attraction.
  13. On the news at lunchtime, people were queueing to join the queue.
  14. Just approaching 5 miles.
  15. Certainly the end of an era. If we have to have a monarchy then time for a reset and much more slimmed-down system as they have in Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands etc.
  16. It'll be interesting to see what The Sun does. Murdoch likes backing winners. Hence he ditched Major and supported Blair when the Tories were in trouble. If Lizzy doesn't get results I can see him backing Starmer.
  17. And the steward just thought that you were pleased to see him.
  18. https://newsthump.com/2022/08/12/there-is-nothing-more-tory-than-profiteering-from-the-supply-of-a-human-necessity-insists-liz-truss/
  19. It could be classed as child cruelty.
  20. And lots of cheap Australian beef putting our farmers out of business even though Australian cattle are kept in conditions that would be illegal in the UK.
  21. Don't forget all of that cheese that Liz Truss was so annoyed about.
  22. Depends how you define stupidity. Statistically, leave voters tended to have lower educational qualifications than remain voters. For those with no qualifications, it was 65% leave and 35% remain. For those with degrees, it was 74% remain and 26% leave.
