  1. That was the feeling that I got. The team got a decent reception at the final whistle. This West Ham team had scored 10 goals in 3 games and we restricted them to a handful of chances and got our first clean sheet in 8 months. If a team is struggling the first thing to do is to stop conceding. Yesterday showed that we can do that.
  2. Just received this in an email. Going to be a busy day.

  3. Her skin is probably a bit dark for the Daily Mail readership.
  4. Trouble is that it's not going to fund social care. It'll be used to reduce the increasingly long NHS waiting times. Social care has to limp on for another 3 years and what will they do then? Can't see then taking money out of the NHS to give to social care so it'll probably be an increase in the levy, which is an increase in income tax by another name.
  5. They spent £37 billion on test and trace and the Public Accounts Committee found that it made "no measurable difference to the course of the pandemic".
  6. So what is he actually doing to solve the problem? If they're not going to relax the visa rules then where is the 100000 shortfall coming from especially, as you say, wages and conditions need to be much improved. I was surprised to learn that, if there is a hold up at the container port, trucks have to sit and wait, possibly for hours, with no facilities whatsoever. Drivers have to pee in a bottle. How much would it cost to put up a small toilet block?
  7. So 25000 drivers returning to the EU had no effect?

    Afghanistan

Very true. A lot of the Taliban quietly slipped over the border into Pakistan who were happy to give them board and lodging. For some reason the Western powers never seemed to put any pressure on Pakistan to do anything about it.
  9. A long, long time
  10. Sad news for all of us who grew up in the 60's.
  11. And to think that someone gets paid to write that bollox.
  12. Mine and son's both arrived this morning.
  13. Reminds me of Fabrice Fernandes
  14. Maybe that would bring some sanity to wages.
  15. To add a bit of perspective, the side that started today for Man City cost £380m and the subs that came on cost £300m. Am I the only one who thinks that the ESL would have been good for the 14 or so clubs that would have been left in the EPL?
  16. Athletico's website (needs a VPN) https://www.athletic-club.eus/en/news/2021/08/07/live-southampton-fc-athletic-club
  17. Yes, fine with VPN apart from Spanish commentaty.
  18. Cucumber? Custard tart? Cumulo Nimbus cloud? Curiosity?
  19. Messi is leaving Barcelona as they can't afford to keep him. Do you think he'd fancy a spell in sunny Southampton? He'd have to take a small wage cut as he made about £100m last year.

    Coronavirus

It would be better than the half-time "entertainment" that we get at St Marys.
  21. Just been on the site to get tickets for son and grandson and the Kingsland, most of the Itchen and the Northam are not available.
  22. Has a similar effect.
  23. Perhaps it's time for a Staplewood Stud Farm.
  24. Someone should tell the presenters that they don't have to talk non-stop, especially as a lot of it was "banter". The only good thing is that it's on terrestrial TV so might get more kids interested. Cricket lost a lot of followers when Sky had the monopoly (but the EWCB made a lot of money of course).
