  1. You should know your rightful place in society and confine yourself to turnips.
  2. Why didn't Truss answer? The question was clear enough . As for incompetent politicians, Boris has a cabinet full of them, Williamson probably being the pick of the bunch.
  3. In that case, why didn't Truss explain her own department's figures? It's irrelevant how she voted, she just wanted a simple answer to a simple question. And what's Abbott got to do with it?

I'm sure that a government as competent as ours could do that within a day or two. They probably appoint Vicky Pollard: "Yeah but, no but yeah but....."
  5. What's that got to do with trade deals?

To send your children to school you are supposed to be a key worker. However, the schools are just taking people's word for this so a lot of parents seem to be taking advantage of the scheme so that they can continue to work. If it continues like this I imagine that the school will ask for proof that the parent is a key worker.
  7. Lyn Truss looks like she's swallowed a wasp. Southampton Freeport was started in 1983. The company still exists as Southampton Free Trade Zone but has been dormant for many years. Go to court and ask the police to define "local". When does "local" become "not-local"?
  10. And to think that Boris suggested nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. https://www.thedailymash.co.uk/politics/politics-headlines/the-morons-guide-to-not-voting-for-idiots-20210108204068

Who is she? Is she a "celebrity"?
  13. I've been watching CNN today. A lot of commentators believe that the Republican Party could split between the "sensible" ones and the Trump diehards.
  14. He's really deranged. Looks like both Georgia seats will go to the Democrats giving them control of the Senate as well as Congress.

I'm only surmising but, if the test itself doesn't tell you then they may pick a selection of samples for more in-depth testing.

That can't be right. Just before Christmas the schoolboy who runs the Education department gave a "cast-iron guarantee" that exams would go ahead.

So you're basing your opinion on one hospital. How many not in ICU but taking up beds? What evidence have you got that "it's the same in vast swathes of the country"? How about seeing what the NHS has to say? https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/uk/covid-patients-piling-up-at-the-door-as-hospitals-risk-getting-overwhelmed/

The teacher's unions did ask for this but it was turned down. It's obvious by now that this government is reactive not proactive. It waits until hospitals are bursting at the seams before it acts. We appear to be heading for a national lockdown with maybe stricter measures. But Boris is frightened by his own MPs and will only act when his hand is forced by the worsening situation.

  23. Most people now think it was the wrong decision. The TImes YouGov poll in November showed 38% thinking that it was the right decision and 51% the wrong decision. Only 4% think that the Government are handling things "very well" with 56% thinking that they are handling it "fairly badly" or "very badly".
  24. There is no trade surplus of fish with France. We import very small quantities from France but export a considerable amount ( as there is no market for a lot of it in the UK). If that market is closed off or hit by tariffs, it'll be UK fishermen who will lose out.
