When was the last time we produced a top quality centre back, we had a few near misses at the end of our last spell in the prem but I can't remember one going on to great things in recent times?

But ACTUALLY means nothing of the sort, grow could be organically from within could be by massive investment could be somewhere in bettween (much more likely) stop reading things and twisting them to fit an agenda and just accept it for waht it is a statement of intent. She clearly doesn't plan an asset srtipping fire sale and run and is trying to stabalise the ship and dispel the rummours of impending doom what more do you want?

Post Match Reaction: Sunderland 2-2 SAINTS
a1ex2001 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Based on? Seriously wish everyone would just wait and see even if KL wants to sell she will know a healthy premier league side will fetch more cash if we desperately need a player I see no reason she wouldn't spend again as she has done consistently since inheriting the club. -

Good performance, unlucky not to thrash them. Decent result, most would have taken before kick off. Over reactions due to injuries and crap week. Move on nothing to see here. -
Cortese's son in the Academy? Is he any good?

Will he throw his toys out of the pram every time the person in charge tells him what to do? -
Analysis: Katharina Liebherr's ascent to the Southampton helm

A much more balanced appraisal than much of what the main stream press have written, your editor needs to do his job though and apply the fine polish to bring your writing fully up to publishing standards. -
Great article nice to see some sensible perspective put on the situation and someone stick their head up and point out the ridiculous sexism at play here, KL owns Southampton football club NC was her employee they decided they couldn't work together anymore he left a new chairman will come in and things will carry on hopefully in Red and White with the occasional nod to our past.

Almost a really good player with almost a really good attitude. Maybe if he sorted out the one the other wouldn't be a problem? Really didn't like the way he engineered his way out of the club, I can't blame him for wanting to go but he showed very very little class and respect, hope Stoke can afford to leave him rotting in the reserves until his contract is up.

Us several leagues above them looking down and us back with a tricky ownership situation which we suffered from for years before and after Lowe
-
Could be the only time he has ever been right about anything.
-
He's not going to use the pre-match press conference to resign and I don't expect him to just walk out he's on a decent salary and enhancing his reputation as a manager. If Cortese is made chairman somewhere else then I'll start getting nervous.

Maybe Katarina has better plans for the club than NC had
a1ex2001 replied to berkshiresaint's topic in The Saints
Surely you mean the blame lies with Cortese for spending money we didn't have and ****ing the owner off? Truly troll tastic today alps. -

All he was, was a smartly dressed Italian playing with borrowed toys and from the outside it looks to me very much like he forgot who owned his favourite toy and they had enough so put him back in his place. He's made a massive deal out of putting in place the structures to support the long term future of the club and now we will find out just how well he did. The speculation about KL in this thread is hilarious would love to know what people would be saying if she had turned out to be a sharply dressed leggy blonde! Business woman or not it's her money and her club get used to it, fingers crossed she has a plan but wether she does or not her old mans fortune (not Cortese) bought us a great period of history for the club there will be ups and downs in the future but we will still have a club which will still be around long after this incident is forgotten. -
Was much more ****ed off when Adkins got the boot. No idea what lies in store but was a saints fan long before we were rich and will still be when we are poor again. Great moment to bring out the statue lets all go Wilde!

Classic footballer in not running round like headless idiot = not trying British football fan rant. Were you one of those who slated Rasiac for his terrible work rate and moaned that he did nothing for 90 minutes bu score a tap in or two? When will football fans stop equating running around and flying into tackles with actually being good at the game? The way some people bang on you'd think we would be better off with a team full of David Pruttons who try hard and clap the fans while hoping nobody notices a complete lack of ability.

Good luck to Mr Lee looked like he had real potential when he first joined us and was unlucky with injuries and how quickly we have progressed, had we spent another season in the Championship I suspect he would have done very well for us at that level st least. Hope he finds a J-League team and his form quickly so he can play at the world cup. The Guly debate is endless and circular it seems with some people refusing to accept that he did a great job for us during our rise up the leagues and still offers an ok squad alternative at this level, yes he's not a world beater but he is a decent pro who has never moaned and always gves his best even if sometime that best is a little below the required level.

Wouldn't say no to Bertrand if Shaw really does want to go but I would expect 15 million plus to accompany him! Much like Le Saux he would fill the slot well in the short term and stop us getting ripped off for a replacement. I thought le Saux was pretty solid for us remember him giving Ronaldo a good clattering early on against man utd. Don't think he will go this window though maybe in the summer, will wish the lad well and track his progress.

Northumbria police really have made themselves look like a bunch of muppets, claiming to have no influence on kick off times or the use of the bubble etc when clearly they have been forcing these things on the clubs. I don't see how they can object to future Tyne-Weir derbies kicking off at 3 or later as they have left themselves no wriggle room.

Adam Lallana pledges future to Southampton
a1ex2001 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
A move to man it'd would probably double his wages and guarantee his place on the plane to Brazil, I like Adam a lot but it is very very unusual for a player to turn down a move to one if the biggest clubs in the world. I hope he and all our other important players are here come the first of February but should Adam in particular decide to leave I for one would wish him well and thank him for his service to the club. Players will always come and go it is how they play for the saints and the manner of their parting which decides how they are remembered, we are still a small mid table club in this league so we should expect to loose some players to the big boys every now and then. -
No Saints youth in England U18s training squad in January...
a1ex2001 replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
Can't say I'm bothered I'd much rather they quietly got on with business at staplewood. It is however a surprise given the recent press about our youth system and the fa's desire to play to the gallery. -
Don't remind me of the Adkins fiasco it is a stain on our club that will fade but never be erased. As for the rest of your post it is pure speculation but we are a small club having a great season so of course our best players and manager will be linked with other clubs it will be a measure of our ambition how we respond should such speculation transform into offers.

I thought his comments were pretty sensible, club are in a relegation battle, it's a tough league and the players have let the manager and the fans down, on paper their best 11 shouldn't be relegation material the fact that they are staring down the barrel just makes it all the more entertaining.
-
Cheer up son, we've got three international strikers and a glittering array of talent in midfield, maybe we will become Newcastle under Keegan now that would be exciting! Yes everyone the loss of Boruc is a big blow but Kelv and Gazza are both adequate and having them in goal doesn't suddenly mean we will loose every game obviously we won't be as strong at the back but we have won games with worse keepers between the sticks.

I really wish they would drop the 'personality' from the title and replace it with 'celebrity' as the requirement for personality was dropped years ago! The young person shortlist is laughable, it seems they want to have a token footballer on it each year and this year the list was drawn up the week Januzaj was the savior of English football.
