you will eat your words. If he had a foreign sounding name many would be telling the world how good he is
-
I think Redmond will be a top player as well. I recall the hilarity when people said the same about Mane on here and were laughed at
-
You will be stoned to death by the radicals on here for daring to say that. Dont forget it is preached that we are punching above our weight and should never expect to actually win things, the glory is to tell the world our club used to have the players who pick up the medals at other clubs
-
conversely if Lowe hadn't appeared on the back of a motorbike we would have been left with Askham and cronies who kept Branfoot. I doubt there was another person around who would have got involved. There is no way of telling what would have happened, RL has been part of the rich tapestry of our club

i heard about it yesterday, about an alleged training ground bust up between the 3 of them. As far as I aware it was some weeks ago and Fonte wanted him out
-
I haven't read the whole of this thread but has anyone posted about the alleged big fallout between Fonte/Cedric and Black at Staplewood?

I think you must have missed the rocket science lessons if you believe that a players physical condition has only to do with the amount of distance they run
-
do you think the rotation is just his idea? Surely Reed would have input if he also thought like the fan base that the rotation was foolish, perhaps we are just showcasing the squad in the hope somebody wants to buy them lol. Funny how VVD is the only player that seems to play every game, he looks fresher than the rest.

He followed after Lawrie I think you will find and the fans had been spoilt. We were too impatient waiting for the young players to develop. Had he followed Branfoot who knos how long he would have stayed -
Puel will come good, it is the hand he has been played. The way we played the other night shows how we can do given tme

Is the quality of football any better now than 20/30/40years ago?

I wouldnt want the game to still have the cloggers and the very aggresive stuff, but feel that we believe the modern players are so much better when they have such better conditions to ply their trade. Imagine Best, Bowles etc playing in todays conditions they would tear teams apart as they rightly would be protected by refs -

China may take the best players long term but the thought of the traditional names of clubs coming to town would not be lost even if the foreign stars were not playing. Football has improved for the family being able to go to stadiums in safety, that is a major modern plus but I do wonder if the football now is quite negative and the ball spends more time in the defenders posession than with the creative players. I long for the bite and cut and thrust that we had back then, not as pretty perhaps but perhaps why football from England was so admired by foreign fans. -

Pitches, the way players were kicked out of the game was a major factor in the technical ability on show. Transport a lot of those teams to now, have them fitter and they would entertain big time -
With the Chinese likely to take a large slice of the top players in the next 20years due to the extortionate wages they will pay the EPL will no doubt be watered down of the foreign mercenaries. I see the odd clip of football in the 70's and 80's. Taking into account the pitches in poor condition, the football was still pretty good. There were no foreign players and the excitement was pretty good. If Sky had been hyping the games then like now we may have a different view, after all England were the kings of Europe at that stage. Perhaps the players may understand the glory of the FA cup etc

Claridge said that he was only asking for a years contract. He didnt mention that he had been offered an improved contract and still had over a year left

The chairman is his uncle but the case of him being sold to us is unlikely

All fair, but it turns me off football. Im happy for players to get decent wages but this is getting ridiculous now. I know it wont change
-
I try to upload images off my computer but all I get is a box asking for URL codig. Is there someway i can change that so it picks up the image

Im in the no player is worth 10k a week camp, except Messi and Ronaldo. These people have trouble passing a football 10yards to a player in the same shirt. To be paid the amount of money they do is madness, but people make excuses for it. It wont change and the excesses are only going to get worse.

that's what i thought. He is Chesterfields Harry Redknapp
