Bristol Rovers (0) V (4) Saints,Post match wooting..
bpsaint replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Sat on the bingo bus outside the ground, what a game! Can honestly say thats the most one-sided away game ive ever been to,7-0 wouldn't have flattered us. Kelvin rarely troubled but for a blinding save in the first half that looked as if it'd gone in from where we were, and a hopeful lob that hit the bar in the 2nd. Fonte was immense, another solid performance by Martin too. Endless running by Barnard again, deserved his goal. Rickie still looked a bit out of sorts again, seems a bit behind on fitness. Onwards and upwards hopefully! -
Cheers Andy, I'll give them a try in the morning. In the meantime if anyone is interested PM me asap.

Didn't think they did refunds?

Have got a match ticket for the terraces and a seat on the bingo bus from St Marys for sale,£30 the pair.
-
Looks to me like after they removed the layer of top soil (which was advertised on the official site for fans to collect free of charge), that they laid fresh turf over the top of it instead of seeding it and it hasn't bedded in yet which is making it cut up easily, just like Wembley.

As kpturner says his distribution was a bit wayward at times yesterday but that could easily be down to a bit of nerves at playing against a Prem team on only his 3rd start for us. He did the simple things right like putting the ball out for a throw instead of fannying about with it and was very vocal, just what you want from a CB.Think he'd be more than up to the task in League one, particularly if AP keeps him in the team for the next few games.

Just watching it through now, first 2 goals were crackers, didn't have the best view of Asa's from where I was stood so its nice to see it again. Gonna get my ass down the gym I think, the camera really does add 10 pounds. -
What worries me with the squad at the moment is at the hour mark today I was trying to figure out who we could bring on that would provide a bit of spark to change the game and there isn't anyone. Connolly is a like for like replacement for Barnard and whilst OXO has some raw talent he is still young and I don't see him having the same impact that Walcott or Bale had. At least Waigo gave us something different and quite often swung games in our favour when he came on. Not saying we should resign him but we definitely need some players who offer a decent alternative.

I'll wear my fonejacker outfit to the next game, be worth a laugh.

That copper was from the Met police not Hampshire, dunno why he'd be filming us lot.

Official Statement from Cortese about future
bpsaint replied to Give it to Ron's topic in The Saints
Think it would be pretty naive of people to assume that just because there was no mention of a trust fund in the statement that one was not set up. Its pretty clear that Markus had grown a great affection for the club, and the fact that he was gravely ill instead of suffering a sudden death makes it all the more likely provisions were put in place. Besides, why would the club want to announce we had a trust fund with millions of pounds in,it'd only see other clubs asking more in transfer fees from us for their players. The statement from Cortese tells me all I want to hear, that the future of the club is secure and that the plan to reach the Premier League remains intact. I'm delighted NC is in charge of us,its nice to finally be run by someone whose primary concerns are the prosperity and financial security of the football club, and not lining the pockets of him and his mates on the board like Mr Lowe. -
Went down today to lay a shirt and sign the book, some genuinely touching tributes, particularly the drawings and messages left by children. I know he was a very private person but I hope Markus knew what effect he'd had on so many by saving the club.
-
Don't think £18 is that bad a price to be honest, considering it's a Premiership team too. I expect if we do ever get back to the Prem the single ticket price for the same fixture in the league would be nearly double that. Am disappointed I can't get my ST seat again, kinda thought that was the benefit of having one.
-
Still lost for words. Thankyou Markus for saving our club, you are and always shall be a Saints legend for what you did. May you rest in peace.

Not yet no

Yeah the crowd was embarrasingly small for them. I'd put that down to 1. The 95% chav crowd not being interested 2. Fatboy Slim was on the other stage 3. It was absolutely ****ing it down, wouldn't suprise me if most people were ****ing it up back at the tent.

Saw them at Oxegen earlier this month, they were pretty good but the poor weather made it hard to enjoy.

Maybe Cortese has banned Minty from posting any more photos of the game as he isn't the official club photographer? -
My seat in the Northam was still in line with the touchline running parellel to the Kingsland stand so can't say I noticed it had moved, and as inoffthepost said the top layer of the pitch was dug up pre-season so there's no way you'd be able to see the old painted lines.

Had a bad feeling about the game when they played 'Sex on Fire' by KOL before the game, thats what they played in the 08-09 season! Seriously though we missed Lambert big time, and we really do need to learn to win without him as he can't play every game, reckon he'd have buried the two headers Hammond missed. Other than clearly needing to sign a big striker as a back up i'm not overly worried, still think there was enough quality on display to be optimistic for the season, although i'd say theres question marks over Jaidi, a few lapses in concentration today.
-
Would be quality if we announced a signing at some silly time tomorrow morning, unlikely I admit but with the way we've been announcing signings so late at night it wouldn't surprise me.
