  1. Perhaps (and I have no inside knowledge) it is tied into the fact that once the season ticket sales money runs out -ie it is used to tide us over till Autumn then we cannot be certain that we will have cut our costs enough to survive on gates of 15k or less and therefore we will be out of business. probably wouldn't be ethical (or even legal) to sell tickets now in that scenario
  2. Knowing our fans lack of ability to unite we would probably end up with an AFC Southampton and a Southampton Rovers both claiming to be the rightful phoenix club. Still it would give this forum something to argue about.
  3. See link Initial allocation of 2100 tickets. article suggests there may be more if we sell these quickly though http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11654
  4. Quite a few long journeys for us northern saints in there!
  5. Cheers - I was looking for this site the other day. As a suggestion would it be worth having one link to some of the generic sites such as rivals, clubfanzine etc. I suspect that for some clubs these might be the most popular forums (might be wrong of course) John
  6. I agree - Being optimistic I can see Norwich picking up 6 points from their last 5 games (lose to swansea, Ipswich and Reading) whilst beating Watford and Charlton. Forest picking up 9 points (beating bristol city, Coventry and Blackpool - losing to Sheff Utd) and then facing us By my maths that means we need 4 wins and we could overhaul them both - would have to target the palace, burnley, sheff wed games for these 9 points. Then winner takes all against Forest. Of course this conveniently ignores the fact that we don't look like we could beat an egg at the moment or that the FL could make it all irrelevant anyway!
  7. I'd go with this team too.
  8. I second the request from UP. Was away all weekend with no internet or phone access so not up to speed with latest. Have no problem with donating but if i am to give a significant sum (from personal perspective) I want to know more about what it is for. Again not knocking your efforts at all I
  9. No decision today - League will defer as they will wait to see what deal (if any) is made with a buyer and the impact it has on the overall finances. If it results in significant reduction of the debt they will deduct the 10. So the waiting will go on.... Or we lose the ten, lose tonight and on Friday and are relegated by Friday night
  10. From the Evening Standard - including quotes from Lowe Barclays is at the centre of an embarrassing row today as the bank, sponsor of the English Premiership, was accused of "sentencing to death" Southampton Football Club. Championship side Southampton, one of the few clubs listed on the stock market, saw parent company Southampton Leisure fall into administration yesterday. Its shares had been suspended a day earlier after it admitted it was unable to get its half-year accounts signed off by its auditors by the 31 March deadline. Southampton's financial crisis has been an open secret in football circles for months, but chairman Rupert Lowe today launched an extraordinary attack blaming the club's troubles on its bankers Barclays. Lowe - who is also chairman of broker WH Ireland, recently embroiled in controversy over the takeover of a rival - said: "This a bizarre situation and should have been avoided. I am frankly amazed that Barclays have done what they have done." He accused the bank of effectively foreclosing on a £4 million overdraft facility with the club. "I don't consider £4 million to be a very substantial figure in terms of salaries paid to people like Bob Diamond," he said, referring to the head of Barclays Capital who has for years routinely been paid more than £20 million a year. Lowe claimed Barclays had agreed to relax overdraft arrangements to enable Southampton to pay its player wages of £1 million a month, but then bounced three cheques. Barclays said it was making "ongoing efforts to find a suitable solution" but the club required "substantial further investment". Southampton, currently in the Championship relegation zone, has had a roller-coaster ride in the past two years. It had been hoped the sales of Theo Walcott to Arsenal and Gareth Bale to Tottenham Hotspur would stabilise the club financially. But debts are now reckoned to have topped £30 million, and a string of suitors offering to bail out and buy the club were rebuffed by the board.
  11. Disagree Simply put - every extra fan who attends is an example of the potential fan base that a prospective investor can tap into. I wasn't a stayaway but I'm not going to have a go at those who were. You seem far too hung up on the past. Fact is we are in the **** and the more fans we get in the next 3 games the better.
  12. None - but then I don't expect any clubs that went under to be in the premier league either. If a buyer cannot be found this may be our only way to have a footy club in 6 months time I know - why don't we sit at keyboards and type petty insults at people instead. Much more worthwhile. Knot
  13. I've bought one and can't even go to the game this week
  14. From the London Stock Exchange The Company is currently in discussions with a number of parties concerning the injection of additional finance into its business. Unless this funding is secured, the Company will be unable to continue as a viable business for the forthcoming 12 months and is therefore unable to publish half yearly report to 31 December 2008 by 31 March 2009 which it is required to do under the AIM Rules. Under the AIM Rules, a company that does not publish its half yearly report within 3 months of the period end will have its shares automatically suspended. The Directors expect that the Company will not be able to sign-off its half yearly report for the six months ended 31 December 2008 until the completion of a re-financing. As noted above, the Company is not in a position to publish its half yearly report to 31 December 2008 by 31 March 2009 and, as a consequence, its shares will be suspended from trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange plc, pending publication of its healf yearly reportfor the six months ended 31 December 2008."
  15. Can't even vent my anger at Barclays by closing my account with them as I do not have one. Perhaps a one man protest outside their Manchester Business Centre might persuade them to give us a few more weeks
  16. You really are waffling on a bit there!
  17. Weston - have you heard anything from your sources as to whether admin will happen this week or not (apologies if you have posted elsewhere already). cheers John
  18. Must have been a long ****. Where we were sat I heard it on numerous occasions and got more vocal. Disappointing.
  19. so it has the desired effect then!!
  20. lack of communication with members - I do not know if I am one or not, have not received any correspondence since my initial certificate. long periods of inactivity followed by random statements which are based on fantasy land ie the council buying the stadium, getting a fan on the board etc, It should focus on getting a critical mass of supporters in order to demonstrate it truely can provide the voice of the fans and not a few individuals.
  21. You haven't got a clue
  22. I'm thinking more longer term and reckon we need 6 wins between now and end of season. The home win millstone will have been lifted following Saturday so I reckon we can win 4 out of these home games Derby / QPR / Charlton / Palace / Burnley. Then either Blackpool or Sheff Wed away then brown trouser time for last game of season against Notts Forest of course someone could have spiked my lunch with loopy juice
  23. For the avoidance of doubt - can you confirm that your source has said we will go into administration following the next board meeting or if they said it is due to be discussed at the next board meeting. Sorry for being picky - but this is a disaster if true thanks John
