  1. If they both go will we need to comb over the gaps
  2. Particularly as new players need time to gel. Otherwise pardew will dish out the hair dryer treatment. After all footy is a cut throat (razor) business
  3. Go pack your bag, sag(anowski)
  4. Can't believe i laughed at that!
  5. Anyone know what channel if any will be showing the game on saturday. Cheers john
  6. Any in detroit airport waiting for flight to new york?
  7. Agree - unfortunately some people on here have spent too much time playing Championship Manager and think it can be done overnight!
  8. so therefore there are 41 games after August. I would rather, if needed, take the time to get in the right players for those 41 games then rush out now to get players who can be signed up now but may not be the ideal ones who could be bought over the course of the next 3-4 weeks. Sure I agree, if our number 1 target for a position is available now we should snap them up. But as others have mentioned there are so many other factors and transfer market forces at work it is very difficult to get the best possible players all before 8 Aug.
  9. The quality of players we will be signing probably consider themselves above having to go on trail
  10. I think we are all concerned about the team however I take some comfort from the fact that AP has not rushed out and bought the first player he can think of. There are too many variables for that. For example the news today that SJ may not sign suddenly creates a possible need to sign an extra striker - I'd be disappointed if all the budget had been blown last week on CB's and midfielders. It is better to buy the right blend of players. For me the time to be concerned is towards the end of August when transfer window closing is getting close.
  11. The time to judge is the 31 Aug when the transfer window has shut. Don't forget pardew needs to spend time with the squad to decide what the strengths / weaknesses are of the current players and decide how best to spend his budget (fees/wages). He has only had a handful of training sessions so far. Wage negotiations, trf fee negotiations, sizing up mental attitude of new players, deciding whether to spend x on player 1 and y on player 2 versues x&y on player 3 etc.... It all takes time. what is encouraging is Pardew admitting that there will be players coming in. if he said he was happy with current squad then I would be concerned. I would rather he spends 4 weeks on getting the right players in rather than rushing out today and blowing the whole budget on 3-4 players who turn out to be the wrong players just to appease impatient fans I would expect to see some backroom staff in place within next few days and then see players thereafter.
  12. I was a shareholder in SLH and have not yet received any official letter about the whole affair. Has anyone else?
  13. Us northern saints have been travelling home and away for a fair few years now. Numbers vary but usually plenty of booze and hopefully start seeing a few more wins.
  14. Can I be the first to mention a press conference at 2pm I have no idea if there is one or not but I will edit out this sentence if my guess is correct!
  15. Regarding Pinnacle - was there ever any conclusive evidence that they had no real money? Been various references on here, talk of revealing emails,, ambiguous statements from Fry and the FA etc but what has been confirmed - did they ever have a backer, when did he/they pull out etc? The whole thing smells dodgy as but did we ever find the rotten fish causing the stink?
  16. Cheers. Sounds promising.
  17. 7th richest club in england? Been away for 3 days and now only have net access via mobile. Please give me a brief update as would take 3 weeks to trawl this on my phone. Cheers
  18. Only once we've agreed who gets which bit and whose bits are bigger than others and if some of the bits we've given to some should be split with someone else to make more bits and whether we need to add some pieces to the bits!!

  20. John D

    Why

The bit I don't get is how the hell did they manage to convince Fry and his "proof of funds" test. Was there a backer originally who pulled out - but as of Friday Fry was still claiming Pinnacle had the funds Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I can't find it!!
