to manage Saints according to today's Echo. So another piece of Jackson bull then.

It is way past time Carter and Co at the Echo stopped giving this bufoon the oxygen of publicity and got down to some serious investigative journalism. Like finding out the real reason Pinnacle and the league are at loggerheads.

Echo have been made to look right fools by this muppett.

Serves then right for not contacting Peter Reid prior to their recent publications. Very poor, lazy journalism. Maybe they should get off their backsides to get a story, rather than get them from this forum.

Couldn't agree more. How many calls have they made to the Football League?

Not defending MJ or the Echo but has anyone thought that as Peter Reid is under contract he is hardly going to say he has been approached and will come in if the right party gained control of the club is he? Where would that leave him if another party gained control?

Nothing is as straight forward as it seems in life, particularly in football circles so I am treating everything with suspicion.

Then Ron, Jackson should not have thrown Reid's name around the Echo corridors.

You seem to stand up quite a lot for Jackson. Doesn't say much for your judgement if he sucked you in as well.

Just an alternative view of matters. Not sticking up for anyone.

I think your point was a good one Ron.

Peter Reid was hardly going to admit an approach. I think he was quoted as saying elsewhere in the article that he would think of returning to Blighty if a club 'like' Southampton wanted him.

As for MJ, I can't help suspect he's huddled up somewhere in the UK with Mr Green and Dubai Phil trying to plot a last minute coup. :)

God, Jackson and Reid, I'm not sure I could handle that. The only thing worse than a really crap manager is a really crap manager that's really boring too.

Would rather keep Wotte than employ Reid. The Pinnacle bid must must go through.

I remember the year they came here when they went down with what was then the lowest ever points record. As a minimum you'd expect some fight from a Peter Reid team even if there was little quality but they completely surrended, it was woeful.

Jackson's a fantasist. Don't believe a word he says. In fact, if he does say something it actually makes it less rather than more likely that its true.

The chances of Peter Reid being the next manager are falling merely in virtue of Jackson suggesting it.

So Jackson has either lied about approaching Peter Reid or tapped him up. Brilliant!

I'm starting to wonder if this club has been relegated to some sort of plot twist in a Samuel Beckett play, because it's becoming increasingly hard to believe that we could have accumulated such a prize collection as LLS, tommac, HMR, (not forgetting Lowe, Askham...etc.), without someone just making up characters so utterly monomaniacal, vain and witless.

Waitig for Jacko. Oh god, please no.

Or perhaps Reid is lying.......it wouldn't be the first time that a footballer has denied a link to another club.......
