Meridian, what is their problem with saints?

Sat in the kitchen with the missus (been keeping her updated on the takeover progress, usually alongh the lines of her saying "whats happening with Saints?" and me replying (in chronilogical order) "That **** has gone", "We're about to be taken over by the 19th richest man on the planet", "that **** is back", "we're going bust", "we've been relegated", "Matt Le Tissier is taking us over", "no one is taking us over we're going bust", "shut up for ****s sake (don't know if that one was takeover related)", and finally "we're going to be the 5th richest club in the country (she rolled her eyes at that one and said I'd said something like that before (see above)" and finally tonight, "its a done deal, it will be on the news". So anyway, 6pm we sit there eating garlic mushrooms watching Skate and mate and what comes on about Saints, absolutely **** all! So she is having doubts, i'm having doubts, so i blame Dineage, the missus says "he surely doesn't control the bloody news" (shes probably right) and so I say, "right, South Today, it'll be on that for sure. "Ummm" she says, but it is (thank ****) and so she said i should ring Meridian and complain which i was going to do but couldn't find their number on the website.

Anyway, the point being is in the title thread, any ITK's cast light on an answer?

I have similar convos with my missus, only she rarely asks whats happening I feel the need to inform her so she actually has something useful scooting around her brain :)

I blame Dineage.....and the fact that since they moved away from Northam and the two parts of meridian became one - hence that ***** of a weatherman instead of Gemma - we have amounted to eff all in their eyes.

And of course we are League One now.

Fred didnt mind it being top story when they thought we were out on our asses tho did he ? ;)

Certainly a bias towards towards the Skates, no doubt down to the Dineage factor. I remember when Redknapp joined us shortly after his (first) departure from P**pey, I watched Meridian coverage just out of some sort of warped curiosity, and sure enough, all reaction they showed was from Skates, not a word from Southampton. A procession of neanderthals in blue calling him a disgrace, a judas, etc....

Funny, that.

Meridian have never been Southampton biased in their coverage of practically anything. It must have been very early in their plans to move their Central South based studios halfway between the major Hampshire cities.

South Today has never seen to have been Southampton biased in their reporting, owing to the BBC's remit to cover the news of the region evenly. If there is sports news from every football club, their order of reporting is strictly league order based too. Hence, at some point in 2005, Pompey started to reported on before Saints. I'm surprised only a few people noticed.

Almost the same conversation I have had with my other half, his answer normally along the lines of ''Ahhh ok'' until he heard about the Swiss, and suddenly he seemed more interested, maybe something to do with the fact that we could be richer than his beloved Glasgow Rangers!

Women don't get sport.

Are you sure????

Solent have been consistently reporting Saints news before Pompey stories over the past week when I've been listening.

They seem to be basing the order on the size of each story, rather than the league each team is in. Which is how it should be done.

Don't really want to defend Meridian but on Monday (which was fortunately Dinenenenage-free) they had a fairly lengthy spot re Saints - mentioned takeover, showed action from Eastleigh game incl. Patterson's goal, and had an interview with Wotte.

How flipping old is Dineage ? I moved away from Southampton in 1980 and he looked as if he was about 75 then !

I'll answer my own question, amazingly he is only 67!! Born in Birmingham so wonder why he supports Portsmouth ?

Because he's a ****!
