Patrick Bateman Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 Now then, if we're allowed have all our "Saints dreams" come true this week, am I allowed to make one tiny request please? That we have some much better beer on the concourses? I know it's silly, I know it's fussy, but I can't stand the rubbish on offer and if we could support local breweries like Triple FFF or Ringwood (okay, thay are now Marstons but that's not the point), then that'd be brilliant. I don't know how feasible that is, but it's a mini match-day dream. All you fizzy lager drinkers can stick with that rubbish
so22saint Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 Itchen Valley Brewery stuff and Flower Pots would be my choices. How about some Chicken Tikka in Naan bread kebabs as well. I thought you were a lager drinker Regan!

They wouldn't have real ale on sale anyway because the plebs couldn't serve it and they wouldn't be able to keep it. I do agree though, the beer is sh!t. The boy done well Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 Hopback will do me, a nice Summer Lighning or Crop Circle These beers would be a great move. I've given up the half-time pint because the stuff on offer is so awful. Of course, the problem with real ale is that it's harder to keep but consumption would be potentially so large I doubt whether this would matter that much. sifter Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 >>Does the club's deal with Carlsberg & Tetley still exist after weve been in admin..? Would like to know the answer to this also. suewhistle Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 Oooh, yes please.. Obviously not a regular now, and I always used to turn up at the last minute from various hostelries - got my timing perfect apart from the occasional queue in the ladies - but there was nothing to get me to SMS early. Obviously they'd have to have limited supplies so as not to waste any, which would encourage speedy drinking - but I've been to pubs where they have barrels on chocks, or even springs to tip the barrels slowly - along with cold water jackets to keep the beer cool. It's maybe a little more effort - but with pubs if the landlord doesn't make an effort I don't drink there. I'd add Hopback to the suggestions above. Summer Lightening is good but maybe GFB as a football session beer. The guys I go with (with a little help from me) could make quite a few gallon inroads into a barrel without really trying. A great idea...

dubai_phil Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 Dear Swiss people England has a unique product called REAL Ale. It is very different from the fizzy stuff that pretends to be English Beer that you can get in the Sports Bar (Pickwicks) in Baden or in Bottles. Unfortunately it is tempermental and does need special care and attention (much like football fans) but if this really IS the new dawn then you know it makes sense. The Pouring Rights contract should be part of the Admin process and you should get some independent experts in to help you. The Campaign for Real Ale should be able to help you. Failing that, that absolutely wonderful Swiss Dunkel Bier that you can get in the few remainining Halles in Zurich would work, not as well, but would work
suewhistle Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 I had a birra media of unpasteurised german beer in a local Italian bar tonight, which nicely settled the wine I had earlier (having just signed a new contract for a flat and not having had a drop yesterday to celebrate). Am now finishing a bottle of Splugen - Italian but reasonably hoppy - and blow me if i haven't got another one in the fridge!:-) P.S. DP, what time is it where you are? They could get a few of those in and be able to cope. I had one at my bbq a few weeks ago and it soon got empty and we had to go back to the fizzy cans. boxosponge Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 A timely post. This is no small matter. I like Guinness, but realise it takes too long to poor. I'm not too bothered what they sell: I'd just like to be able to buy a pint at half time. Would prefer Guiness, but with the shambles that operates inside SMS have no chance. Taking and serving up orders as if it were a country pub on a quiet mid week morning for gods sake. If they employed people who knew even how to serve their rubbish beer quickly it may be better Lets see, our clever tills tell us that last match we served x pints of ale and y pints of lager.so we will have to serve x + y "pints" from this bar in a 15 to 20minute time slot starting at 3:40 ish. Lets poor the bl**dy things in advance. Take our moneyquickly and throw us the beer. Its such a shambles that I don't bother having a pint cos there just isn't time

trousers Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 A different guest Hampshire brewery setting up a pitch in each concourse every home game would be superb. These breweries are easily geared up for this sort of thing as they're always at beer festivals, real ale trains, fetes etc. Liebherr did say in his press statement that he wanted to re-engage the local community and what better way to do that than over a pint of local beer. Good for SFC, good for local industry. Win - win. Perhaps we need a fan's parliament to push these ideas through....

Smirking_Saint Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 I am a loyal lager drinker but must admit the crap they serve down at St Mary's just does not go down well at all (not that it stops me) IMO i feel they should have something like Kronie, or just serve something that does not taste watered down ffs. On another note, i am partial to an Ale now and again and feel that would be a brilliant point. AND bring back Chicken and Mushroom pies !!! And stop pre-filling burgers with sauce !!
