miserableoldgit Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 From Charles Sale in todays Daily Mail:- Silence of the Saints The Southampton FC takeover by Swiss billionaire Markus Liebherr hasn't stopped Begbies Traynor from receiving huge criticism at the way they handled the sale. Keith Harris, whose Seymour Pierce firm were acting for another interested party, was so exasperated at what he considered a lack of information from administrator Mark Fry - appointed surprisingly from Begbies Traynor's Southend office - during the process that legal action was threatened, as well as a complaint to the Football League. A Harris email sent to Fry said: 'If you did not mean what you said, then please explain your mis-statement and please also explain why I have had no communication from you.' TheSaint75 Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 Apparently, Mr Fry didn't even add some names/groups to the tender, or whatever you would call it! I thought all parties that showed interest would have been listened too and given the same opportunity as the others, but it seems not ! We may never know (or care) just how many or how lucrative a choice of new owners we could have had if Mr Fry had been doing his job properly! Sorry got side tracked for a sec. Whats Harris complaining about then? As others have said, his firm was in charge for god knows how long to find a buyer and got no-where fast. All the while they were being paid for seemingly doing bugger all. Sounds like sour grapes to me even though im not sure if BT did everything they could or did what they did well. Foxy Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 My immediate thoughts are..........who gives a thruppeny wobbler. We could only have been in the same position as now come the endgame OR worse off. Could we really have had a more promising owner than Markus? SP did bugger all wehn they were tryign to hawk the club so why should we care if someone lese managed it and their man blew a few quid when he thought he might be able to get his snout back in there? The European division of Portsmouth FC shirt suppliers Canterbury is expected to go into administration this morning. It is Fry's conduct not the loss of Harris bid.I couldnt give a toss about that the Swiss did their work and got us, iam sure in a short time it will dawn on the fanbase that whilst he is a billionaire very little of that will be splashed on us. We are saved that is paramount for me, but some of the fanbase will turn when they realise we will not be buying promotions. Fry so nearly ****ed up and why so many jump in to defend him is strange to say the least, especioally as his actions cost your mate in excess of £1m

david in sweden Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 Remind me.....Exactly how long was Keith Harris trying to find a buyer for the club? Some years ago we moved and put our quite desireable flat up for sale. After nearly 3 months the whinging creep of an agent hadn't found a single buyer ! We changed estate agent, result; (she) was a very positive person with a good attitude and found us a buyer.... in a week! .If Keith Harris had the assignment for so long ..how come he couldn't have found a solution?. Was the asking price too high ..or were they just not up to it ? Considering Fry gave Pinnacle the chance, and they baled out ..I think he handled the new bid very well and finalised things in very good time. Welcome Markus Liebherr ........tough Mr. Harris, why not re-examine your working methods - 'cos they don't. Last year, you might have sold a Championship team and saved us from the drop. Fry has done a good deal. Stop complaining - you had your chance.

Saint_Donovan Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 A close friend of mine works for BT and said that fry is known within the company to be very 'old school' and not always 100 percent ethical in the was he handles his clients but at the end of the day imo the best people for the job are now in charge of the club and the future likes bright for saints for the first time in many years. So did fry handle it correctly? Maybe not..... But why dwell on that when the end result is just what the club need.
