1:54 Gary Jacob: Dean Hammond has signed .. the club's advisors claim more tocome

Old news! Check out this thread http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=15773 where we were following Gary Jacob's webchat at the time a few hours ago - more signings to come before the extended transfer window ends.

this way people can see it with out having to trudge through forums and take that one off at a tangent.

Don't disagree - don't worry wasn't having a go - just confirming it was The Times webchat that was the source and pointing out where people could see full info!

me too. Ironic really, i was playing football next to Home Park and we kicked a ball narrowly missing a guy who worked at the club. He was annoyed at first but then proceeded to give us a stadium tour.

They were div 3 at the time and we were Prem, i remember thinking they would love to play a team as big as us, now they are in a league above!!!!

Also worth noting that Saints vs Plymouth is not a local derby as some like to think. The ammount of people who said that to me, its 3 hours away !!!!!

any other saints news?

Nope - alas he was very vague re: Saints - said Hammond had signed and couple more to come before end of deadline.

Then said James is desp for way out of the hellhole down the road and the takeover is def not happening as far as he can tell.

Sounds like he doesn't know anythinng to do with us tbh, anyone can guess that hammonds signed by the OS announcement (pretty much done) and anyone could say we'll sign some more by the end of the window....Pard's has pretty much admitted it.

He's just guessing on us IMO.

why is there more to come...we are not supposed to be spending money..

all we are good for is just avoiding relegation..why show intent..?

Ypu harbinger of doom! This is going to be a good season, halfway ish in league and starting to settle the club down ready for 2 or 3 years to push.

What the new owners want from ALL is support and being prepared to wait while returning to a decent league.

Stop moaning about lack of spending our club has been saved.

When youare terminally ill like me, and, you klnow you only have a few months it does focus your mind on the positives, so PLEASE lets stop some of the silly requests that are coming on here, stop silly expectations, support the club, and the yteam and the new owners

That comment makes me think we've entered into some sort of bizarre universe.

Signing good players, keeping our best players, owned by a billionaire...and dell days is one of the most optimistic posters! ;)

We are all unbelievably happy that the club had been saved as a few weeks agoosy of thought we'd have to start again at the very bottom as Southampton AFC or something

but lets not ignore the wood for the trees eh!

Even wihout a 10 point deduction the team that got us relegated from the CCC would struggle in League 1 (or are we forgetting all those cup games)

it needs major surgery on the deadwood and some new branches grafting on

Harding, Lambert and Hammond are an excellent start but we still need a RW 2CBs and some pace upfront

I'm also not convinced that James and/or Murty will fill the gap at right back

plus we are going to have to compensate for conceding at least one goal every game to corners or free kicks into the box

James/Murty are two excellent options at Full back.

James proved himself to be a very capable full back in the 2nd half of last season - and he was actually subject of interest from championship clubs when we came down...which shows that improvement wasn't ignored.

One of our most improved players last year IMO - still only 20 too.

Yawn - all good points but I think we are all aware of our failings - not sure I need to keep seeing them tho.

Yes he is optimistic He convinced me last week that most teams in the League were rubbish so I was looking forward to Saturday only to for him to be proved right.

We were rubbish :(.

By the way how much did Dean cost

We definitely need some new signings, even if Hammond's move does go through tomorrow.

We're light in defence, and we need at least one centre-back as Perry isn't getting any younger, Thomas is injury prone and Lancashire isn't quite ready yet. A big, physical defender who's proven at this level is exactly what we need.

I also think we need some strikers to replace Saganowski and Rasiak if they leave. Jackson from Gillingham and Sharp from Sheff Utd would be good, and they're realistic targets too IMO.

Finally, we could do with a right-midfielder. Lallana isn't a winger and Thomson can't be relied on all season. Not sure who we could look to bring in, but it's a position that we do need to strengthen before the window shuts.
