saint lard Posted 24 October, 2009 Share Posted 24 October, 2009 I would be feeling rather chuffed at the moment. Virtually everything his new regime has changed and put in place is slowly coming to fruition. Ok it's early days still but he could've got a bloody bargain in buying us. Of course there will be setbacks but bloody hell he and his colleagues have swept through this club and cleared away the lethargy and negativity. He has to be pleased with his purchase thus far. first cider opened, cheers Markus,Nicola, cheers all.
Greenridge Posted 24 October, 2009 Share Posted 24 October, 2009 If he could sort out the catering and perhaps a radio station I'd be fully behind him, until then I'm not sure he's the right owner for us

John B Posted 24 October, 2009 Share Posted 24 October, 2009 Sorry comments too complacent NC ML and AP etc should be sitting down to discuss how to improve the team because with a couple of additions the squad is capable of promotion

Smirking_Saint Posted 24 October, 2009 Share Posted 24 October, 2009 Who would you drop? I think THIS squad is already capable of promotion. Agreed, we dominated a team that has had a very good run on their hands, we drew with an organised charlton team. We have played some very good football at times and look solid in all areas. Was ML there today ?? If he was he must have been in Awe of the support.

I think THIS squad is already capable of promotion. I don't think that it is neccessarily about dropping anyone. More a case of releasing those that are deemed surplus and then recruiting a couple of more bods to add depth and create a healthy competition for places. I'm sure that ML, NC et al are watching things closely and being extremely proactive in the governance of the club. I'm sure a glass or two of fine wine may, at some time, pass their lips in a happy reflection of their success so far. Still a way to go but my confidence is quietly growing. CanadaSaint Posted 24 October, 2009 Share Posted 24 October, 2009 I hope that Mr Liebherr is smart enough, with Cortese's and Pardew's help, to realize that the squad has been rebuilt very well but with a relatively low cash investment. I suspect that things wouldn't look as rosy if the loan players were recalled. We have a chance of getting out of this division this year with a squad that could also be competitive in the Championship. My hope is that, now the (crowd and playing) potential of the Club has been confirmed, the management team will start figuring out how to extend the loans and convert them into permanent signings in January. BadgerBadger Posted 24 October, 2009 Share Posted 24 October, 2009 Just goes to show that when you clear out the numpties and eogs and all pull together, how relatively simple it can be - I love being us at the mo!!!

suewhistle Posted 24 October, 2009 Share Posted 24 October, 2009 (edited) I bet he's chuffed to bits! I live in Italy where the idea of 20K+ for a 3rd division game is inconceivable (and for some 1st division games too - think Pompey...). Now I know he's not a football person, but if he was there today I reckon he must have been impressed. I can only go on second-hand reports, but sounds like it was a good atmosphere, and, more importantly, what are the odds on a better crowd for the next home game (let alone for 3000+ for Orient)? Perhaps ML should go to an away game as well! I notice on another thread that Al-shukrun or Al-khol or whatever his name was is interested in "any proposed redevelopment of the stadium for the city's [ie: pompey's] 2018 World Cup bid." What are the odds we might have a better chance? Edited 24 October, 2009 by suewhistle

iansums Posted 24 October, 2009 Share Posted 24 October, 2009 I saw that Herr Liebherr was at the game again today. Once again I noticed him 5 or so minutes before the game stood up leaning forward on the railings at the front of the director's box looking around his 'estate'. I don't know why but it just made me smile, I can't help feeling he's absolutely loving owning this football club at the moment.

chocco boxo Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 One step at a time, I can understand everyone getting excited especially after all the "crap" we have put up with. Yesterday I actually thought if RL was running this club what would have been in store for us vrs MK Dons? 12,000 crowd and probably a 0-3 defeat. We are really lucky to have ML as the owner and so far the way he has gone about things shows he and his men know what they are doing. However this is Saints we follow and I just hope the 4,000 of us on our way to Orient are not disappointed!! Saints winning 4 on the trot Orient getting stuffed 4-0 yesterday!!!!!!!! Saints please do not FUC1

Legod Third Coming Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 Don't know if anyone else noticed but when the 3rd one went in Pards gave a little wave and a thumbs up to the directors box. Magic. That's what we want. A Chairman who backs a manager's judgement and a manager who thanks his Chairman for it. Long may it continue. I bet Pards had to talk NC into paying a guy who had been out for two years with injury....
slickmick Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 A chairman who doesn't love the sound of his own voice. How refreshing.
