305 die hard Rovers fans. Was that the smallest amount of away fans for a league match?

Any stato's out there?

I'd say 350 is being generous!!!

350 great effort compared to a certain club who took their away fans to sunderland in a minibus yesterday, this is 2 divisions lower so was a good effort

where have these xtra 45 fans come from?

You should bear in mind that the Wirral is not the most affluent part of the UK and travelling to the South just before Xmas not good timing. I thought they made a lot of noise for the few numbers and considering they were getting dicked all over the park in the second half. I thought their right back was excellent.

no. make it a slow painfull death

They know their sh1te, they look at us with envy, we have everything. We are averaging something like 30% of every away attendance, we are getting 20k crowds in League 1, we are 1 defeat in 15. Our stadium is great, our training ground is great, and getting better, fook me Portsmuff are still training on our university playing fields!!

The future is bright, the futures red & white!

It's definitely not the most affluent part of the UK. It is, however, definitely affluent enough to provide more fans than came down. It has some very nice areas.

That said, I know tons of people who live on the Wirral ( or over the water, as the scousers say ). Very few of them are actually Tranmere fans.

Wirral is basically split in two ; West Wirral and East Wirral. West Wirral has West Kirby, Heswall, Caldy etc and is very affluent (Caldy being millionaires row) and East Wirral has Seacombe, Poulton, Birkenhead etc. and is a bit like Skatesmuff.

Having lived and worked on Wirral for the past 20 years I have to agree with Pap that the majority of football fans are Liverpool, Everton, Manure and not Tranmere.

Just for info I live in Meols (West Wirral) - there is a few Saints around Wirral and across the water in Liverpool.

We used to take good followings to Newcastle, but not Sunderland from my experience.

Hartlepool was a good following for sure.

I remember a mid week match at Sunderland and we certainly took more than Poopey did in that photo. Our section wasn't as wide ... we will filled the upper tier.

Cracking atmosphere that night ... I got the 2am train from Newcastle back to London (with a 1 hour wait in Leeds at 4am), arriving at 7.30am ... and then into work at 9am. Long day that one.

Oh yes. Remember that night, One of the best away-days.

Apparently we took 281!!!

Flew up from Stansted for a Fiver, and stayed at the Premier Inn.

One of the coldest ever nights, if I remember.

We started a chant of "Sack the Board" for a laugh... and the whole ground joined in!!

Certainly the smallest away following at St Mary's for a Saturday game, that said surprised it was over 300, looked more like 150 to me.

They actually sold 350 tickets, but some coked up scally touts over estimated the appeal of this game and were left with a couple of hundred away tickets in their back pockets LOLZ.

I could have made some/all of this up ... but could be a good explanation :D

I remember seeing only about 4 Oldham Supporters in The Archers on a cold January afternoon in 76, which was the day we got the loyalty voucher that gave priority for all ticket games and meant I was good for the semi final and a memorable May Day visit to Wembley. Wonder if any of the Oldham fans used their vouchers

OK not St Mary's but I can remember a game against Man U at the Dell a few years back, the next time we played them after one of theirs tripped himself up and got Casey sent off at OT. It was a cold, misty midweek game and we counted about 30 Mancs in the middle away section of the Archers.

I'd imagine they've rarely taken fewer away?

Different club but worth an honourable mention, I'd have thought:

Pity the 30 or so hardy souls (including Mr Blobby and Buzz Lightyear) from Darlington, bottom of the League, who made the 12-hour, 706-mile round trip from County Durham to Torquay - so few that the club didn't even run a supporters' coach - only to witness a 5-0 humiliation.

Guest Dark Sotonic Mills
"Stella" Bucharest didn't bring many. They must surely be contenders for the fewest away fans.

Wasn't that before Romania joined the EU though and they would have needed visas?
