Crab Lungs Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 Possibly, TDD, they could. Anyway, does anyone actually rate Theo that highly? I've always said he is way behind in his development as a footballer and is still more of a sprinter than anything? Premier League player, yes. International footballer? Despite that Croatia game amd that world class dribble v Liverpool, I still 'hmmmmm' over his inclusions. Anyway, sorry, off topic!
Saint Without a Halo Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 Sorry TDD as usual it is a matter of opinions! I was at the match where he scored a superb goal in the youth team v Arsenal and just dont think he has developed much in the 4 years since as a footballer! He has pace and he has skill but not yet a complete footballer in my opinion! I saw the Croatia hatrick described as a hat trick in a below par performance, in the same way as the recent Man u one by Michael Owen. I believe that going to Arsenal so early in his career was detremintal to his progress!

Crab Lungs Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 So what Pompey are in the premiership and we are League 1 yes, and we were in the prem nearly 30 years. and we've got a better stadium, training ground etc and we've got a bigger fanbase. and we're not riddled with debt. and we've developed more players than them over the years. and we're in the ascendency and they are quite the opposite... I think we just need to agree that our opinions differ on the issue of Walcotts development since leaving saints! I like Walcott and hope he makes it to the world cup! Just dont think his game has really developed in the 4 years since he left! That is my opinion and playing in the champions league and scoring a hat trick for England in croatia does not change it! converted_saint Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 Our academy was among the best in the game not so long ago, so it's no surprise to see that we've generated more home-grown talent that Pompey. Long may that continue, and here's to our academy producing fantastic talent in the years to come, talent we don't have to sell or put in the first-team far too early!
