"Fans queueing overnight for tickets to the FA Cup game against local rivals Portsmouth were surprised to be greeted at 6.30am yesterday by Cortese carrying trays of coffee."

Nice stuff!

Yeah, I loved that bit. Even if it's just PR, it's a cracking effort.

The Barcelona link is a bit lazy though. I imagine Randy Lerner at Villa and the board at West Brom would feel a bit narked when they read that.

Its a charm offensive but just reinforces how you can't please all the people, forward your address to him and you never know !!

Exactly. I did that and NC is currently in my kitchen whipping up some bacon and eggs. While I eat it he is going to read the Daily Express out loud for me.

This article seems like Murray using the Express as a mouthpiece to dig at Cortese...by getting the plans into public domain without using the Echo.

Since when have the Express done ANY articles on us..let alone 3 in a week???

Actually, Im pretty confident ALL of the article was cribbed from posts on here and didnt come via the Echo.

Seriously, people are going to moan about a one off special shirt without a sponsor to commemorate our football heritage? There really is no pleasing some people.

I love the one off design and look forward to buying a shirt.Thank you NC.

I never wear Saints stuff to the game but I will buy one of these - still won't wear it mind - it'll stay in the bag.

What's this with trays of coffee? It should be mugs of tea, dammit. We're an English club, not some soft continental cappuccino-sipping fairies.

Hope it is the sah design. Not just because a change will be good but also to see the hysterical reaction that is bound to appear from those fans who seen convinced that Saints have never played in anything other than uniform sized red and white stripes.

Red and White IS Southampton, but not necessarily stripes!

The 1980's was Saints most successful decade and Saints didn't have stripes at all between 1980 and 1989.

Makes complete sense that a 125 year anniversary with no sponsor should be that of the kit 125 years ago.

From 1885 to 1974 saints did NOT have white socks.

From 1885 to 1938 Saints did NOT have black shorts.

From 1885 to 1896 and 1980 to 1989 Saints did NOT have red and white stripes.

From 1885 to 1974 Saints did NOT have this badge...

Southampton_FC.png

That is 89 years out of the clubs 125 years WITHOUT that fan designed 1970's badge.

Time for a badge redesign Mr Cortese. Those that think the badge has historically always been part of the club need to think again.

36 years out of 125 years is not alot!
