At the m-in-law's yesterday, I saw her copy of the Sunday Torygraph - in particular their guide to the World cup. They went through all of the teams and tried to compare them with English clubs

eg England are Tottenham. "They think they are a big team but they have not won the big prize since the mid - 60s."

France are Arsenal, Germany Man U. USA are Man City, Mexico, Bolton, Uruguay , Burnley.

Most countries are compared to P League teams but a few lower league teams are included - eg South Africa are Accrington Stanley because everyone (?) loves them but there is no escaping that thay are a third class outfit. Greece are Reading, Serbia are Millwall , Paraguay are Preston.

Apparently, South Korea are Southampton - "a perfectly nice club with decent fans, but to be honest their neighbours are far more interesting."

So , come on South Korea !!!

They've got that wrong then, South Africa should be Skatesville, loads of violent crime, everyone lives in hovels and it's full of pikeys.Holding the WC in such a place is asking for trouble, like having all cup finals and play-offs games in Portsmouth, bastards won't go unless it's free.

I tried to google the article, with no success, so I entered the following search term (with no inverted commas):

sunday telegraph+perfectly nice club with decent fans

Check it and see what comes up. Freaky and hilarious at the same time. :D

Why are England Spurs?

'Think they're a big club but haven't won it for many years' etc. But the favourites are Spain, and most would agree they're the world's best team, but they've never won it.

Past achievements mean bugger all. Uruguay have a good record in terms of winning world cups, but they have no chance of winning it.

So I'd say england are saints - starting to come good after years of rubbish and about to dominate football! possibly. always a chance they'll completely arse it up and implode again.

But England win against the lesser teams and lose against the better teams, whereas Saints often beat the better teams, and then lose to some of the worst teams.

England have a 'can't be arsed' problem. Saints have a 'we should walk this one' issue.

That final line is the most accurate summing up of England and Saints i have seen. Congrats :smt038
