Has Dean Wilkins got the worst starting record of any Saints manager?

I feel sorry for Wilkins, he's been thrust in at the deep end and he's clearly drowning, but it's not really his fault.

He's a good coach and i hope that he is kept on in some capacity when Adkins comes in.

Maybe he shouldn't have taken the job? Miles out of his league .... at when we're near the bottom of L1 that's saying something.

Just back from the game.

I watched Danny Wilson spend the entire 90 minutes in his Technical area, giving direction and leadership to his team.

I looked for Dean Wilkins, but sadly no sign of him giving any direction whatsoever.................Although I doubt he could have given directions to the team bus in the car park to be honest!!

Answer to the OP question............If he hasn't got the worst record then something wrong must have been recorded in the history books!

Dean 'Jimmy Osmond' Wilkins, got to where he is now by association...if he was Ray Weston's brother instead of Ray Wilkins he'd be lucky to be a sponge man in the Commercial Houses league FACT!!

Anyone ends with FACT, rather than anyone that compares WGS in the Prem with Dean 'Jimmy Osmond' Wilkins at the bottom of Div III??

Two words 'Really!!'

I bet you wish you'd said that before replying to my thread to try and backup my thought? lolsmilyfacewinkything

Not that I actually compared them at all, as you know.

It is p!ss poor but it's hardly his fault....it is Pardews.

Can't it be the players fault? They know DW is only caretaker, they know they are soon to have a new man in charge and they are supposed to be professional football players. Is it impossible for them to take some responsibility and up their game?

it would be just like us to appoint him as manager a la Steve Wigley, watch him disintegrate, and f*ck up a perfectly good coach. Just saying...

One thing that worries me is that most of the new managers we have had have taken a long time to gel with the team so I dont expect any good results for a couple of weeks.

We rarely benefit from new manager syndrome so I think that's a fair expectation.

I bloody hope he is replaced this week by someone who knows what he is doing.... hmm, may have to check odds now and see what promotion is.

I had the same thought actually... got to be worth a couple of pound? I also managed to get a sneaky bet on Adkins being the next manager the other day, when speculation suggested the offer had been withdrawn and the odds went right up.

Scene at NC’s office Monday 8am :

NC: Miss Money Pound do you like my new large Italian flag?

MP: Yes Nicky it looks just great on the wall above you – no one could possibly miss it!

NC: And Money, please show that idiot ..... I mean Wilkins in, grazie.

NC: Ah Simplekins, mattina. How was your weekend?

DW: Very good thank you God Father, I mean Mr. Cortese Sir, I mean Sir Cortese, no no I mean Lord Cortese ... I think?

NC: buono, buono. Actually mine was merda, grande merda!!!

DW: Oh really what happened?

NC: Never mind that I have MON waiting in reception, so I will get to the point – YOU ARE FIRED!!!

DW: But but but, sorry I don’t mean your backside – but I did everything you asked of me??

NC: che cosa (what the ****)?

DW: Well you asked me to keep a clean sheet and show some goals, and I did that in all three games.

NC: stupido!!!! Even a football virgin like me knows you have to keep a clean sheet for your team and score against the other team !

DW: Well for a Swiss you certainly weren’t precision enough in your instructions! I think I have a good case for unfair dismissal

NC: Buono, sue me in the Swiss courts, now vaffanculo ciao !

Dean Wilkins, caretaker manager at Southampton, is hoping to hand over control of the first-team soon - saying that Saints lack confidence and quality in depth.

The South Coast club were defeated 1-0 at Swindon Town on Saturday. They had hoped to appoint Nigel Adkins before the game, but were unable to agree financial compensation with S****horpe to secure release from his contract.

"We were on top in the first half, but we're just finding it hard to get our noses in front. I know everyone says we have got a big squad, but you have only got to look at the options on the bench when we go a goal behind, it becomes difficult then," he said.

"We started the game brightly, a lot of the work we did this week you saw in the first 45 minutes, but we can't score and that's been our biggest problem.

"The situation at the club needs to be sorted out as soon as possible regards a new manager.

"It would lift the club, it would help everyone at the club concentrate on their job and stop all the talking that is going on the at the club at the moment."

Adkins said after S****horpe's loss to Bristol City on Saturday that he hoped to have a resolution sorted before Monday.

He has agreed personal terms, along with assistant Andy Crosby, to move to St Mary's. An announcement seems likely on Monday morning.

Should that happen, Ian Baraclough is likely to be appointed caretaker manager ahead of Tuesday's trip to Sheffield United.

I thought everything was rosy, everyone was happy, all the players were behind DW and nobody is really thinking about the managerial situation?

At least, that's what the OS said...
