Marsdinho Posted 8 April, 2011 Share Posted 8 April, 2011 Davis doesn't deserve to break Shilts record. Shilts did it in the top division, Davis has done it in the third tier of English football.

Matthew Le God Posted 8 April, 2011 Share Posted 8 April, 2011 I don't know why they bothered with this, you can't do a like for like comparison... - Davis will have more league games to play in this season than Shilton - thus more opportunities to keep clean sheets - Shilton was playing in the 1st tier of English football, Davis in the 3rd tier against 3rd tier strikers

Appy Posted 8 April, 2011 Share Posted 8 April, 2011 It does compare because it is in context with what league they were in and how good they were.
Saint_clark Posted 8 April, 2011 Share Posted 8 April, 2011 It doesn't matter if you "can't make a comparison". It would be a fact that he had kept a record number of clean sheets, not an opinion.
Matthew Le God Posted 8 April, 2011 Share Posted 8 April, 2011 It does compare because it is in context with what league they were in and how good they were. But not when Davis had a 46 game League and Shilton had only a 42 game League to get the 18 clean sheets. So not like for like as Davis will have 4 more possible opportunities. Hope he gets the record as its easy to give the plaudits to goalscorers but he has been as much a key part of our promotion push. IMHO clearly better than any other in this league. Who many positions can we say that about?
