Why oh why oh why oh why oh why the delay ???

Jesus, dont the club want to generate some revenue during what is a traditionally quet period ?

It really p*sses me off that everything seems to be put on hold and everyone disappears for the best part of 2 months.

I’ve tried explaining to people before, study the club business methods and it is quite clear they are ambivalent towards season tickets and have no desire to maximise sales,

- Late announcement of details, especially when we have full house end of season game full of potential business to sell season tickets to yet make no effort to make announcement.

- No advertising or marketing

- No renewal forms sent out

- No Installment plan

- Short renewal selling peiod

- Refusing to sell to people the day of the first game of the season simply saying “bad luck mate you’ll have to wait until next season”

- No half season tickets

- The introduction of the ticket tax, being a savvy businessman prepared to take risks Cortese would prefer a low uptake of season tickets with a higher ratio of pay on the day customers paying premium price of ticket, often with £2 extra on the day or the £3 booking fee.

Maybe its as simple as using this time to let a lot of staff go on holidays etc before the start of the new campaign leaving just a skeleton staff behind. Would make business sense to encourage leave during quiet times. Then have all hands on deck to get things under way after a few weeks break. After all, most of the players plan their holidays for the end of season break.

Priceless! Maybe the club feels that a 2 month and a bit window is plenty enough time for people to buy season tickets. Let's face it, anyone that wants one will be able to get a ST over that period. It doesn't need to be announced earlier. It is probably more important for Cortese to ensure they get the price structure right and maximise ST sales to those willing to buy them as there will be those that value ST's and those that are happy to pay per game. It's two distinct markets and neither is reliant at all on early announcements. I mean, is anyone really going to say "the club didn't announce it as soon as last season ended so f*** 'em, I won't buy one!"

As for new kit, we do not know WHY there is a delay or if there is a delay at all. The progress on kit may be perfectly on track and in line with club's plans. Again, how long a window do they really need to sell kits to those that want to buy them. You will likely want to buy one or not and therefore even a window of a few weeks would suffice for that purpose.

Alpine, why are you in such a hurry all the time to knock the club. You have no idea as to the planning or reasoning behind these "delays" which may not even be delays at all. Maybe, just maybe, the marketing people at St Marys have good reason to not sell ST's / Kits early as I'm guessing it is possible that if you create a smaller window for people to buy in then more may purchase so as not to "miss out" or maybe it builds anticipation. Who knows, maybe a marketing expert might come on and shed some light on whether this is a deliberate ploy to sell more long term of whether it is simply because they will sell the same regardless of window of opportunity.

I honestly can't remember many kits being available before the end of the summer. Last year was possibly the only exception I can think of - 12 June was very early by traditional Saints kits(still nearly a month away BTW). Even when they 'launched' them at the end of the season, they were rarely available for purchase before mid/end July. Of course that gives you the summer to fill your life with more improtant things of you want....

New home shirts are typically available in the first couple of weeks of June. I've received several as birthday gifts and each time they have been preceded with an apology from the gift giver that they will arrive late as my birthday is at the end of May.

Unless you are 11, who seriously cares about the kit?

And I really don't see the issue with season tickets. This will probably be our 2nd season without an installment plan, so people have had plenty of time, the best part of a year, to save a pretty small sum of £500. Surely you'd prefer that money sitting in your bank account rather than the clubs? If people moan and say "oh we only have a month to save for the season ticket" i'm going to scream.

If this is the case I hope you are a girl :)

get a grip we are still in May!

existing STH's would like to know renewal prices sooner rather than later -june would be acceptable. however potential new STH's may want to hang on until most of the transfer dealings are done and dusted before deciding whether to invest in a ST.

Why on earth would you care when season tickets go on sale? Are you going to buying one then?

As for the kit release, like somesone said above unless you are 11 does it really matter when it comes out? We'll have it for two years.

Come on.. . leave Alpine alone. he is merely looking at it from the prospective model that it might be opportunistic to capitalise on the positive end of season vibes to max sales and that is as valid a model as the one suggested by the clubs actions.

I doubt that tthe busienss model is based on 'don't care', would be very naive to think so... but there are many considerations they will have taken into account - early birds and purchase at a time when many are planning holidays, current economic cliamte etc... also they will be reviewing the budget in detail following promotion and assessment of transfer and wage issues based on what they feel they need.. so that they can set the price to meet the budget, balancing this against value for money and competitive pricing... if we know anything about BC, its that he is detail focussed and this focus is what will hopefully maximise teh budget for Nige, without upsetting the books.

From a marketing perspective, the 'delay' approach can also work in your favour, building a sense of anticipation amongst fans etc.

But Alps also makes a valid point here and seems a shame that everyone jumps on his back... because of his 'reputation' ;-)

Incorrect. This subject has been discussed at length, in one topic halfway down page 1 and another 12 page topic on page 2. The discussion could quite simply have been carried on there, it really didn't need a brand new thread other than to attention seek on the negativity.

And I'll just have to disagree with you that it's a valid point. The club have already said that season ticket information will become available later in the month. And shirts don't usually go on sale this early in the year. So it's a non issue.
