Who are our top young players?

I seem to recall about half way through the season the club saying we had a group of very good young players about 16 or so coming through. I am sure some of you will follow their progress and know who the future stars are. Anyone know?

If Harlee Dean is still considered as a top youngster we are in trouble. He is 20 next month and hasn't played a competitive game for us has he? Only played a couple of games at Football League level. I fully expect him to spend all season in the development squad and will be released next summer. A shame because his girlfriend is as tasty as Pinder.

It was a very bizarre signing in all honesty.

Also a shame because 'Harlee Dean' is a cracking name.

He sounds like he should be married to Taylor Swift

With a name like Harlee, I think she should go on top

In all seriousness though, has anyone actually actually seen enough of these young players to make their own informed judgement? Do they even open the gates to the public for youth games?

We know that Shaw, Ward-Prowse, Sinclair, Stephens and Hoskins are supposedly quite good, but can anyone divulge any further information?

Anyone here like watching kids?

That isn't evidence. Surely the club would include him on the list?

Did they announce Holder-Spooner leaving?

We found out about that because solent listed him as a Bournemouth trialist in a reserve game.

The profiles on the OS for the academy players were all updated last week and Lloyd Foot, Jordace Holder-Spooner, Ben Martin, Lee Nicholas were all

removed. There were 3 players added (Johns, Seidi and Rowe). I don't think the club made any official announcment - presumbly they don't need to announce as part of the retained list as they were not on pro terms.

I think it was because they were not in the first team squad whereas Pulis & co were.

Jake Sinclair is tipped to be better than his older brother.

Not having a dig, but has anyone seen him play or even heard from anyone else directly that has seen him play or is the "better than his brother" just one of things that just catches on and everyone repeats (I've done that myself and I don't have a clue how good he is or not).

Looks good from what I've seen, in the brief time I've seen him play.

Chamberlain is touted as a future England starter in this article. Says quite a bit to be put in the side ahead of Adam Johnson.

http://www.column10.com/2011/05/a-look-in-to-fabio-capellos-crystal-ball-how-england-could-line-up-in-2018/

Scoring goals for Southampton in the lower leagues of English football whilst still being a teenager is starting to become a bit of a trend. Chamberlain only burst onto the footballing scene towards the backend of last season – making his debut in the 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town. Chamberlain has already been linked to just about every top flight club in England, with Arsenal rumoured to be leading the race to sign the player who graduated from the famed Saints academy. Whether he continues to work his trade in the lower leagues of English football or jumps ship to one of the big guns, it is clear that this England under-21 international could be a star of the game.
