Is Wilde fit to be Chairman?

If anyone thinks he is perhaps they had better ask him to cast his mind back to the early hours (5am) of the 11th November 2006 which was the day we played Sunderland away. Then they should they ask him who he was drinking with at that time and why, 2 days later, a junior club employee consequently lost his job.

Aha, A new witch hunt, first of the day.....or is it?.

Why the hell don't you just tell us what you're on about? I really can't be arsed with riddles. If you know something, spit it out; if you can't or won't do that, stop with all the hinting.

So many claims/rumours but never any answers, please explain.

Did the junior employee forget to top up the ice machine??

If so, then he should be hung, not just sacked.

A fair point. Actually, I have it on very good authority that Wilde and Crouch argued over this very point - Wilde wanted to sack the junior employee, Crouch wanted to kill him. Eventually they reached a compromise - Wilde sacked him and Crouch killed him. Obviously my sources are far too imaginary to be revealed on here.

Why start a thread and not answer anyone's questions?

Lots of mocking out there, not much thought though for the young innocent employee who lost his job because of Wilde's reckless behaviour.

Meanwhile Wilde is back with all the perks his Chairman title ensures and yet the fans on the forum continue to "shoot" the messenger. No problem with that (whistle blowers inc:rolleyes:) but when you go to bed tonight remember who is in charge of the football club we all love.

Let's hope Wilde sleeps well.

Yes it is, but Wilde becoming our Chairman again makes its relatively new and relevant news. I hope the guy that got the sack still finds it old news.

I gather Sarah Luker has been treated rather shabbily recently too.

It's not news at all.

At the moment it's just cryptic comments between posters.

If you're not willing to follow up your original post, you shouldn't have posted it at all.

I have been accused of a lot of things on this site before taking the plunge and joining with Full membership. I cringe at some of the posts and laugh at others.

The only thing I care about is my life and that means my family and Southampton FC. Last night we got a very well earned point at a ground where we were dreading a fearful beating. Let's rejoice and pray for a similar performance on Saturday. An added bonus would be for one of our forwards to remember what their main job is. Score goals.

Let's hope Wilde sleeps well.

With his track record of stabbing people in the back I doubt it !!

Perhaps he goes to bed thinking about his over due set of accounts !!

They should be good bed time reading for him in his big house in Burley !!

Whistle blower? As far as I'm aware that phrase is normally used to refer to a person who puts important information in the public domain which would otherwise be kept hidden, often at some personal risk. What have you done? Ah yes, you've posted cryptic comments on an internet forum. You've said nothing; you've blown no whistle.

I said this earlier but, at the risk of being repetitive: if you have something to say, say it. Make your accusation, whatever it may be, and make it clearly. If you won't do that, why should anybody give you any credence?

Fair point and I will get around to it when it becomes neccesary but I will say this. All I have done is set the hares racing but my comments are not cryptic as I have been precise. Wilde, the Chairman of SFC was drinking with someone (and it can't take much imagination to work out who that was) throughout the night in a North Eastern hotel prior to the Sunderland away game, autumn 2006. There was quite a lot of drunkeness (not a issue unless the two biggest drunks were the manager and chairman of the club) and during the evening things are said that shouldn't be. End of season tour? Not a problem - everyone needs to let hair down but this was mid Nov before an important league game and also present were minor club employees who were in a scenario they should not have been exposed to. Things were said which were thought OK. Not so. Young lad gets sacked. He has suffered but not the two men who were meant to be leading and representing our club who emerge scot free. One now manages Scotland and one is our Chairman who continues to lecture us all on fiscal prudence. Is it relevant to now? Yes because Wilde is still here. Has the guy who got sacked got a new job? I don't know - I hope so but he was sacrificed on the alter of Wilde. Are Saints in capable hands? No I don't think so.

Make no mistake administration is looming - our overdraft has risen to 8m and Barclays have expressed their displeasure with Lowe. Surman and Lallana are as good as gone in Jan despite their reluctance to leave. Unless we find the right people to deliver us we are about to take a massive step into the unknown and with Wilde at the forefront there might not be a way back.

Laugh, joke, flame away I appreciate no one likes nastiness when it comes to slagging Southampton FC but the future of this club relies heavily now on honesty and trust and under this current leadership we are not likely to get it.

How about forgetting about who is running the club and just get on and support the team?

Ring any bells?

Thanks Long Shot, presumably you have laid this all out knowing it to be true otherwise you might leave yourself open to attention from parties other than us lot on here!

I'm sure that forum members/users may well take a little time to read and digest what you have to say before embarking on a witch hunt against you.

It seems that times for Saints are even more perilous than I cared to imagine. I wonder what Mr Wilde thinks of this? Does he have the bottle to lead us out of the arms of oblivion? I very much doubt so when I remember his 'disappearance' when the going got tough last time with the 'gang of three'!

I'd just love to know what a real fan like Leon Crouch might make of all this mullarkey! I would think he's pretty P155ed off about it all.

Oh, and two grown adults in getting drunk late at night / early morning shocker

Also, person gets fired from his job shocker - perhaps he wasn't very good at it?

Pretty insensitive response- he was quite good at his job not that you would care from your flippant reply. And if you think it is OK for the Chairman and Manager of your football club drinking publicly at 5 am in a hotel bar on the day of a match then you have probably got the team you deserve.

Thanks mate, whoever you are for at least taking this thread with a degree of seriousness. IMO Wilde is teetering and so he should because there is a lot more scandal out there.

Indeed! It's all to obvious why many team selections and substitutions were, shall I say, rather strange?

And what an example to set to the players? How can a manager discipline players when they know that he and the chairman go out on a bender themselves!

If Wilde is teetering then hopefully he'll decide to offload his shares, to someone with a bit more nous and drive?

But who would want to buy into a club like this? (Go on! say it in a Lloyd Grossman voice)

LOL.

So it's fine for the fans to go out drinking the night before a Big Game, but not the manager or Chairman.

It's also fine for the fans to drink before during and after a Big Game.

It's also fine for the fans to give their opinions on who should or shouldn't have played, or how well or not they performed.

All this while under the influence of alcohol

As for the guy who got sacked, bad luck really..... Or are you saying it's alright for junior members of the club to be up drinking [or at least hanging around a place that sells alcohol] at 5 o clock in the morning before a big game, but it's not alright for the Chairman to do so

I stand by my original statement, people don't just get sacked because they overheard a conversation or saw someone in a bar - that's why we have employment laws ;) - so I guess he lost his job for some other substantial reason.

Unless of course you want to be more descriptive in your explanations ;)

I think you have lost your arguement in your first sentence - if you can't see the difference then it really is not worth me spending any more time jousting with you. No offence but I prefer a more sensible debate with people more attuned to Planet Earth.
