Leicestersaint Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 I have two friends who have season tickets in the Itchen - I would like to get one this season next to them (there are no season ticket holders there at present). My friend has asked if i can do this and the answer is no - they can renew up to 14 July and then I would have to take pot luck on getting the seat next to them. I will try to do this but if i can't then I probably won't get a season ticket at all as i don't want to sit on my own for every match. I am prepared to pay the premium for a new ticket. This is quite a big investment for me as I live 145 miles away and will have to travel down for the games at a fair cost. The policy seems very inflexible and is likely to result in the club being worse off. It seems a funny way to run a business let alone encourage genuine fans. ChrisPY Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 It's how most clubs do it. STHs can renew until a certain date to ensure their ticket then it's upt to everyone else to get a ticket if they want one. What's to say there isn't someone else who wants that seat as their mates sit the other side of it. Why should the club let you have first pick? Colinjb Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 So, on that Logic then, I won't be able to get my (future) step-daughter her first season ticket in the family enclosure when I renew on the 1st, I'll have to wait until the 14th and hope the seat next to mine is still free? Elmore Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Once you all have season tickets I'm sure the club would allow you all to move to where there are 3 seats together (within your price bracket)?

Scummer Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Anyone know how this would work: My dad falls into the 'cull' of seniors (he's 63) and now counts as an adult. He now qualifies to get a free kids ticket (we are already in the Chapel and I get an under 8 ticket free already with my season ticket). Will they let him get this additional seat now, or would it not count as a renewal?
Saint Mikey Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 If there's no-one there at the moment, then it would have to take an existing ST holder to move there anyway. I'm sure it'll be available, it'd have to be pretty unlucky not to be. Otherwise, as said before all 3 of you can move. It's pretty easy.. What's the problem with some people moaning all the time about every little thing. Contact Cortese? Are you having a f*cking laugh? I'm sure he's got better things to think about than every single fans individual seating requirements. F*ck me.

aintforever Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 I don't see the harm in letting someone reserve a seat next to their friends, inflexible ticket policies like this are counter-productive. The problem is you end up speaking to one jobsworth after another.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 The answer is simple. Get down ticket office at 8:00am on first day of general season ticket sales.

Would have been nice to sort everything in one visit to the ticket office but for something that is 'free' in the family section anyway it's not the greatest of inconveniences. This would then leave 1 free seat between 2 season ticket seats and very unlikely to be sold

SaintBobby Posted 29 June, 2011 Share Posted 29 June, 2011 I have 3 season tickets in Kingsland and want to move our seats. This may involve moving to the seat that your stepdaughter/mate/lover/accountant/lawyer/PR agent/wife would like to have if I didn't move there. However, you can be totally confident that the ticket office will enable STHs to sit together. This may mean you have to move from your preffered, say, row F to a slightly worse row J, but it can be done np.
Alain Perrin Posted 29 June, 2011 Share Posted 29 June, 2011 I wish Chamberlain would move. At least then some of the griping would stop. Best bet is to ring up on 14th July and buy your ticket. If the seat you want is free, great - you get a ticket. If not you can move you and your mates to some available seats (@10pound per seat I think). If they let people reserve, all chaos would break out. People would reserve and not follow through etc. It would be an admin nightmare. Thankfully you'll be fine. There will be so many gaps due to the 'not yet legally an OAP' revolt (you know the one where they were getting a bargain which has now been taken away), you'll not have a problem. No. It would however be poor business to have to hire a **** load of extra staff and pay to upgrade systems to cope with putting everything on sale at once, when it could be avoided by simply seperating things out a bit. How much money do you really think they lose through having a two week period where only renewals are available? I would bet anything that it's less than it would cost them to try and deal with it. Barry the Badger Posted 29 June, 2011 Share Posted 29 June, 2011 I guess I will just never understand the desperate need for Season Tickets to be on sale sooner. The season starts in August, I really don't want to have to buy my ticket any earlier than July. I do get that some people can overstretch themselves with money and so struggle to set the £500 quid to one side, but I know people who are properly angry about them not being on sale yet, and not because they are struggling for the cash but simply because they want it NOW. I really don't understand the panic and I don't think I ever will.

I guess the only issue is whether marketing earlier/better wld get more total sales. But I whinged about this last year and NC et al proved me totally wrong. For example, my daughter's birthday is in June and I always used to buy her a season ticket as one of her presents. Many people are on holiday in July and out of the country. What are they supposed to do? Telephone at enormous expense? Try to get online and set up an account in Bongo-Bongo land? Look at it the other way. What possible reason could there be for not putting them on sale earlier?

Barry the Badger Posted 30 June, 2011 Share Posted 30 June, 2011 (edited) There can be a number of reasons for this. Well even when they went on sale early season tickets were not sent out in June if I remember correctly. So presumably all you ever gave your daughter was the promise of a season ticket not an actual one wrapped up. So I don't see why a later date would affect that. As for the holiday argument...If anybody is unlucky enough to be out of the country for those exact two weeks, it's not like it's been sprung on them and it should be relatively simple to arrange for a family member to renew their ticket for them. Another non existent problem. As for there being no possible reason for them delaying, do you think that the coordination and selling of Season tickets costs the club nothing? There are costs involved and it seems pretty apparent that they've worked out this is the most cost effective way to sell the season tickets.
