Wave 105-Lowe -

ultimately if player wants to go to a bigger stage he understands but wants to keep all young players if they are committed and don't have to sell any of younger players if they want to stay

close as can with my typing skills to direct quotes as he was on radio

Cheers Nick.

Bit of Deja Vu again though...same old scenario peddled just before Beattie etc were sold...more PR bull to shift the blame to the players....where do the stories about Lallana and Surman going come from if the players and their agents, families know nothing???

Someone's lying....

And there it is the kiss of death. He said the same thing so many times in the past you would think he would realise people are actually not that dumb. The whole "if players want to progress in their careers at a higher level we can't stop them" translates into

"i might be able to make some cash on this player and if someone offers anything they are gone, but they wanted to leave, we didn't have to sell!". Theo saga part 50....

It translates to "if other clubs want them they need to know we don't have to sell them so offer a decent price". It is normal business practice and probably a huge bluff as they will need to sell a few. What would you rather he said, "we are deeply in the poo and I just hope someone offers something, anything just so we can keep going another year."

I am quite encouraged by his comments as I know the likes of Surman and Lallana do not want to go.

I know Lowe wants to keep the young team together, he has said it enough.

No, no he doesn't. Aren't you listening to the people on here? Lowe wants to sell all the young players and make sure his own plan fails.

Whatever Lowe says, some people will think the exact opposite - there is no hope (unless we get promoted then everyone will soon forget).

There isn't going to be much of a sale, fee wise as Skacel, John, Euell, Raziak, Saganowski and Davis maybe Thomas are out of contract at the end of the season.

We could save a lot on wages though.

Don't think that's factually correct actually. There are some 4 year contracts

involved, Rasiak I think, Saga was on 3 years from 2 years ago.

lowe is probably posturing with regards to losing any talented players...he is hardly going to say, "we cant wait to get rid to the first buyer"

I remember him doing the same when we went down with peter crouch..

not alot he can do really apart from ensure we can get the best possible price SHOULD we sell..

that is probably too easy and not radical enough for some on here but hey ho...

Last night Radio Hampshire (The Brothers) were going on about "you'll never guess who's on tomorrow - beans will be spilled".

Is it Rupee Lowe that is coming on? 4pm in Bournemouth, 7pm in Southampton - seems achievable.

Can someone record it to disk or transcribe here so we know who is said. Whoever the mystery guest is.

I would rather he didn't say anything at all that is what i would prefer. He said the same thing about players like Crouch,Theo,Beattie etc.. then in a matter of weeks they were gone. Some for good prices and some not. Point being when Lowe makes this statement which must be an anual tradition for us the player he is talking about goes. So while you may believe he is playing a business game to rise the price of the players i think it is nothing more then trying to ease crowd reaction to the coming storm. Any real business person would know we are in the **** because Lowe said so only a few weeks ago in in his stock exchange company notes. No matter how good you are with the gift of the gab (which lowe isn't) will not increase the price of the players by coming out saying we don't have to sell. Because if the figures are correct then we do, we are that close to admin, all the vultures circling over head will be full aware of that. He should just shut up, if he is not speaking in the independent about salary caps he is talking on the radio about how great our young team is....Mr i want to be a celebrity has returned then.

If those players don't want to leave and Lowe says that he won't sell them unless they want to leave, what should we make of it all if they do leave next month? Will those player suddenly have decided they do want to leave? Just wondered.

then the rabid mob claim he is being quiet and they dont know what evil he is planning...

Well the mob will be angry no matter what he does. He is in a no win situation. But he is the one who put himself there.

We all know we are in financial meltdown, we have been aware of it for a long long time. We have our 3 main strikers out on loan because we can't afford to pay them, that is a good indicator. Then we have our recent financial report saying we are down what was it £5m? For him to come out and say we don't need to sell anyone and the players will only leave if they want to further their careers is just plain ********. If that actually happened and all the players said they want to stay we would make no money in the window and that will obviously hurt us further financially, probably to the point where we will have no choice but to go into admin. If that happens Lowe loses his shares as does everyone. Can you really believe Lowe would be happy to do that if it means 2-3 players stay? Of course not. He has no option but to sell because the club needs the money badly to pay the money we owe to our creditors.

Right now i will make a prediction that Davis and Lallana will be bought in January. I think that is 99% going to happen. Davis is in fine form and goalkeepers who are in that type of form are hard to come by. We all know Davis doesn't want to leave, he has said so. So if he does go who's fault will that be? Lallanna has been in the spotlight since his display at WBA last season. He has had numerous clubs scouting him this year and because of that i think someone will bid for him because they will worry someone else could get him.

If those two do go i think we will be able to hang onto the other players until at least the end of the season.

Those who do go Lowe will come out like he did with so many players in the past with most recently Davies saying they wanted to go to a better club. When the reality is we had no choice but to sell them. That is why Lowe should shut up.

Must of been a difficult choice championship football and wages or premiership and european football and wages. I wonder what you would of chose had you been in that situation.

Well for those players they obviously went on to better things. But Theo didn't even play for what 2 years? Plus i think Theo did the club proud with his negotiations. The same as Bale. Unlike most people today who see the £££ then just leave without a care in the world.

But the point re-mains the same IF we are to AVOID admin we HAVE to sell. Anyone who believes Lowe will let these players decide if they stay or go is a idiot.

If a premiership club shows an interest and are offering more wages and possible european football thrown in I'm sure they would be very tempted, wouldn't you?

theo did not play as he was 17 years old with a handfull of senior games under his belt in a crap league...i think wenger knew what he was doing....and the proof is now in the pudding after some stunning performances....

spending 2 years training with henry, fabregas, rosicky etc will do far more than getting thumped every week by darren moore and chris morgan...

Yes the likes of Rasiak, Saganowski etc, the high earners. Get rid of these and just maybe we can keep the youngsters.

Also so true what the guy just said about Lallana just signing a new 4 year contract a few months ago. That shows he wants to stay.

why does it?

Signing the contract secures Lallana future at SFC if he wants to stay. But if a big club comes in and if he wants to go he will go.

Probably also means we will get a bigger fee as he has a long contract.

Mark Dennis has criticised Rupert's comment that Saints won't keep players if they get a better deal elsewhere. Even if the player has just signed a new contract.

Dennis is really going for it.

he is now saying but we are getting £1 million for Man U game:confused:

And the people on the radio agree with me SW, maybe you should ring in and say what you just said? ;)

I cannot hear it up here but I can read the posts on this thread that disagree with you ;)

Indeed they have to be sold. But why were they not sold in the summer as we had plenty of time with the new set-up to know they would not figure nor could we afford to try. Rasiak and Saga will not make much for us, maybe £1m combined. The sale of those two would not be enough seeing as we don't pay their wages now.

At the end of the day time will tell but im 100% in agreement with the guy on the radio "complete and utter rubbish".

Then i will re-iterate what i said. Anyone who really thinks Lowe does not want to/need to sell players in january and it is down to them if they leave is an idiot. Time will tell but i have no doubt i will be resurecting this thread in 4 weeks or so and saying you were one of the idiots when they go.

I am sure Lowe, like every chairman is the country has a players he wants to sell and those he is keener to keep, and like every chairman in the country will sell players if they want to leave and he receives a good offer.

The only thing that varies is how attractive a club is to keep a player (not very as not premiership) and how attractive offers will seem (more for us as we have more need for cash)
