The extra charge for the split payment option I can see being a bit of an own goal. There'll be lots of people who can't afford to pay up front and will see that and decide not to bother.

I did think that was a bit of a cheek yeah, and disguising it by talking about a 5% premium......they could have waived that for renewals I would have thought.

Last season it was split into 10 interest free payments. It's ridiculous.

If you want to split the cost the full price of some tickets has actually gone up, not down.

Says its was misused by a minority of supporters?

I think we're moving back to Block 39 from our one season experiment in block 46, so for us there is a decent saving vs staying where we are, plus the extra games, works out as £19 a game for an adult - not bad.

People cancelling presumably? Maybe they could have just prevented those people using that option.

I’ve renewed - what else would I do on a Saturday?
At just over £23 a match for me and a tad over £10 for my grandson it feels quite reasonable.
Might even see some wins or is that too much to hope for!

The club can't be too confident about attendances next season as it looks like they will be giving the away fans 3,000 tickets.

Said a while back on here that it didn't look like the new away end could easily be split so we'd probably have to offer full 3k

Not going to get many new based on those prices

the prices are very good. Northam for example 497, my season ticket in the Northam first season at St Marys was either 400, or 450, i dont remember which, but even worst case a relatively small increase in 24 years isn't bad at all. Centre areas little bit pricey but dont think anyone can have too much to complain about. Sure they will though.

Renewed mine, I make it my 43rd consecutive season of going which makes me feel properly old. Moved to block 21 from the Northam Wall as i couldn't face another season in what seems like a creche for Soccer AM fanboys

I thought that but when i checked back my season ticket in the Itchen North for our last season in the championship cost me £430 so it's actually an increase if you do a like for like.

It's obviously not terrible pricing but given people are skint at the moment it's not great, and the extra 5% fee for people doing monthly payments is a proper kick in the bollocks to those folk

Yeah, basically this. Apparently numbers "in the hundreds" simply cancelled their direct debits midway through the season because they couldn't be bothered to go anymore. Quite surprised the club doesn't have any recourse on that through the Direct Debit guarantee (the main aim of which is consumer protection but surely should protect the "service" provider in cases of deliberate non-payment of agreed amounts), so I guess their way around that is to levy a charge and to ensure payments are complete by the end of the calendar year.

They've said that anyone with an outstanding balance on this season's ticket won't be able to use the payment plan for next season. Quite surprised they've not just said "no season ticket for you", tbh, but I guess money talks.

I only looked at my own renewal price, so I don't know if it's replicated across the board, but an adult ticket in the Northam was £499 this season and if you use the payment plan this year it's £497.70, so it's still effectively frozen.

Given the apparent number of people who abused the payment plan this season, we seemingly have them to thank for the extra expense.

That's pretty shit when the likes of Preston, Hull and Blackburn won't even probably sell half of that

What did they do? Surely these days with it being all computerised and scanners etc it's not like the old days when you can get your ticket and then cancel the direct debit after one payment which i believe a few did back in the early St Marys days.

the 5% thing is a bit shit. Dont think the prices are too bad overall. 21 a game or so is pretty good value, not much more than i pay for league 2 football

Likely people who basically had no intention of going again this season, so they noticed they hadn't finished paying for their season ticket and just cancelled the direct debit via their bank. I imagine the club would have first tried contacting them to reinstate the payments but after that they probably just blocked the ticket.

If I remember rightly, the early St Mary's days featured voucher books for season tickets as they had the free bus passes attached as well, so there probably wasn't much they could do about fraud (and let's be fairly clear, that's what this is/was) because every ticket voucher was the same and nothing was scanned to authenticate that exact ticket.

Can anyone tell me when the priority window ends?  I’m not that keen on renewing until the new manager is announced.

5pm on 12th June.

yes that's right, match ticket with a bus pass voucher, i remember hearing few people boasting about how they'd made one payment on their season ticket and then cancelled the payment but were still able to use the ticket. Piss poor behaviour.

Nope, I was considering it but not at those prices.

Charging people more for needing to split the payment is a piss take as well.

Yep £525 behind goals after the shit just served up

Yeah I think they should have removed that option too. I think the extra amount and higher payments might put a few off.

I'm seriously considering block 21 also, how far back have you gone? It would be good if we could get at least a few hundred singers over there.

I notice half the block is unavailable, is it like that this season or are they just not wanting season tickets sold there so they can leave those seats empty for the skates I wonder.

Youre not allowed to see the sense of the clubs side. I hadnt thought or realised that fans had the ability to stop their direct debits and so costing the club money (and us of course)

We've got five of us together right at the back of Block 21, and about the same again in the rows infront. i'm assuming that the ones currently not available probably will come available once the renewal window passes as they'll be people who had season tickets there last season.

Less than £23 per game, it really isn't that bad. Some people just love to complain for the sake of it.

£474 to renew in the Northam, very happy with that.

Hopefully more do the same then. Think I'm going to also.

Re the blocked out seats it looks like it's exactly half the block in a straight line which is why I assumed not all are ST's.

Saturday the Northam wall showed how good it can/will be with a run of decent results. The noise generated was fantastic

Renewed mine and the lads today, used the split payments last year but now they’ve added what is really a 5% fee being paid by people to subsidise the club for those that stop paying I went for just emptying the savings this year.

Posted

Hmm. Bit frustrating to have it spun as a 5% reduction, only to find that caveated - and with less payment periods than has been the case for... years now?

I'll have to run some sums. Given they want the first instalment at checkout, this goes both ways. If I am able to renew they can wait until 12th June.

Posted

Fuck knows what people were expecting. ‘We were so shit last season so STs will be £300’?

I think they could throw in home cup games if we get any as a bonus

Just seen the promotional video, if only our playing staff were as good as our marketing department.

I'm pretty sure I paid about that per game when we first moved to St Mary's in 2001

An observation that is made every year, but there is a cost for offering what is effectively credit and loads of hassle from those who abuse the system. It's not like it's a surprise that there is an upfront cost if you want a season ticket, although I'd agree football is generally expensive in this country.

Buy via credit card and you could have a number of paydays to pay, and buy a piggy bank and each match day shove in the cost of a pint and come the next season you'll be ahead of yourself. If it's still a struggle my sympathies but maybe other bills will need priority, and stay friends with people who might be able to offer you a ticket occasionally!
