Where would we be now? Comfortably in the playoffs I’d suggest. Credit to Tonda for insisting we only look at battle hardened, mature players in the January window. The buying kids to flip them priority has been a disaster.

We might still do something, but SR has made things far more difficult than they needed to be.

Not sure either of those players were available in the summer.

We had the worst squad in the Premier League by a margin and perhaps it wasn't realistic to turn it round in one window.

But under Spors we've gradually been sorting ourselves out

Er, Peretz is only 25 so young for a keeper and had barely played a front line game for two years so hardly battle hardened.

Spors picked a decent keeper is all.

So, if we had kept Bree.

With every game that we play loaning him out seems the ones of the worst decisions this club has made. Hes excellent at this level and head and shoulders above the two we brought in to replace him.

obviously Peretz is a huge upgrade on Baz too but that’s a pretty low bar

one thing that’s odd though is we were told our CBs we’re all too shit to play in a back 4 so if this was the case surely we’d still be shit?

agreed on all 3 points. The loaning of Bree, sticking with Bazunu, 5 at the back - all massive blunders. Also not reintegrating Edozie much earlier.

+ Will Still and Damion Downs. So that's at least 5 major blunders (thank you Spors and Rasmus). Given those handicaps for a quarter to half the season it's amazing we are in with a chance of the playoffs.

Plus Wood now preferred to Quarshie, another stunning summer signing.

Cyle is a breath of fresh air, but just as much of a gamble as Downs was. Just goes to show the fine line between success and failure.

Not sorting the goalkeeper situation sooner though is borderline unforgivable after multiple seasons of everyone and their dog being aware it was a major problem.

To be fair, I don't think many people were bothered about loaning out Bree in the summer as he'd hardly been great for us before. However he's looked transformed ever since returning, looks a much more confident player than he did before. Certainly made me re-evaluate him.

Every transfer is a gamble, there's no sure thing. Liverpool spent over £120M each on Wirtz and Isak in the summer and both have flopped.

As you say it's a fine line. Who knows what happens if Downs gets the confidence boost of putting away that chance against Wrexham on opening day.

It would have made no difference we would still have Still in charge .

And having that din in charge for 3 months is the reason we are playing catch up .
