Pilchards Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago It’s not going away the THB rumours that’s for sure. I’m sorry but selling him will be our chances of promotion. The first half versus Colchester the back four were terrible, Peretz and THB were the only ones stopping us conceding 3 goals. Colchester?!? Think how most of the championship will carve us in half without our main CB. 2 1

Think how most of the championship will carve us in half without our main CB. I got the impression he was up for another run at the Championship with us. A bigger problem against Colchester was playing Matsuki alongside Downes in central midfield. Once Bragg came on we looked much more solid. If we invite teams to overrun us there we'll have problems against whoever we play. 3

I wish if he was going he'd have gone the first few weeks of the window. So much more gutting to lose him near the end. 3
hypochondriac Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago The only thing that's going to help fans get over the loss of THB at this stage is someone decent like this bloke followed by Jordan James or someone of similar quality and the Lazio striker. 1 1
KingInDaSouf Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I do get the feeling there's some truth to the THB rumours, just can't believe Benfica will get anywhere near our valuation. Surely he's not going anywhere for less than £30m?

Absolutely no chance we sell him for that. But £25 million I can see if he actually wants to go or maybe someone else will come in and offer 30. We said earlier in the summer he is free to go if we get what we want for him so it's likely he's aware of that. Will be a massive blow if he does, particularly at this stage of the window.
SfcPhil Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago If there's one thing that Sport Republic do well it's that we usually get good fees for players leaving. Alfie House alluded that we would be looking for at least the same fee that Charles left for, but I'd harbour a guess that it would be £30m guaranteed + add ons. He's not going anywhere for £17m. 2
Pilchards Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Shame we couldn’t keep THB and brought in another commanding CB to play alongside him. 1

THB alongside this Anil with Stephens as backup really would have been perfect. If you don't get promoted you can't have nice things. 4
James Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I have a vague recollection of us being interested in that Anel guy last summer but could be misremembering that. 1

I mean do clubs pay the kind of wages he would get with a move to a Premier League club in England ? Whilst they are a huge club are they really breaking the bank to sign THB? Seems very unlikely but who knows?

I very much doubt it is to Portugal but you can bet there are a number of clubs interested whose interest has not yet come to light.

pingpong Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I don't think going to benfica would get him closer to the England team. He needs to go to a more competitive league (or stay in this one). Surprised there isnt a prem team interested, like a Fulham or an Everton.
Willo of Whiteley Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I saw David Ornstein’s name and thought ffs, he’s been pretty on it this summer. Then I saw The Athletic and feel reassured. 😂 1
Cuddles Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 3 minutes ago, Matthew Le God said: Not literally Have you checked the board room? There may well be a 'Self destruct' button which automatically agrees £17m deals for players worth £30m plus. There is likely a sign next to it which says 'Do not press'. Fingers crossed no-one gets excited and presses it to see what happens. 2

Not as good a passer or as comfortable on the ball as THB (in reality, who is that could be available to us at this level ) but he’s powerful, strong, good at set pieces both attacking and defending being 6 ft 5 and has experience in the champ, would be a very good signing IMO. Left footed so if he was to go LCB alongside Taylor would be ideal but can’t see it 1

Looked comfortable on the ball to me as well. Was their captain for a period including when in the PL I think. Sounds like a pretty like for like replacement to me.
Saint_lambden Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Benfica’s highest ever fee paid is 25m euros. Given we’d want at least what we got for Charles, they’d have to pay around 10m euros above their record transfer to get him. Unlikely. 4
Willo of Whiteley Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago He won’t go for less than £30m, and I still don’t think there’s much going on in this gossip. Championship starts this weekend, we’re hardly liked by anyone. Stories will come out all the time about is.
CSA96 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago He won’t go unless the number starts with a 3 and he asks Saints to sell him
SaintsLoyal Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago THB is a big dressing room motivator and him leaving would be a loss. But maybe we need the money.
Willo of Whiteley Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Unfortunately, this is where fan pages like SaintsExtra on Twitter add fuel to the fire. Seven consecutive posts about Taylor Harwood-Bellis, over twelve in the last 24 hours - all of which say either the same thing or nothing of any substance. It just fuels the rumours and makes gullible twats on here and social media see it as fact. The only post I care about is the one from the club when they say he’s been sold (if it comes to that), otherwise why do people even entertain this shit? 3
gio1saints Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The price offered for THB is not unreasonable looking objectively at what a Championship CB should go for. Thing is, THB is probably one of the few players we have that’s worth MORE To Saints than whatever the Open Market valuation might be. THB, CL, LS, DP,Jander and Ryan Manning are worth more to the club this season than supposed transfer fee - IMO. This squad has several Moneyball players. Let them play and deliver SR!
SouSaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I was hoping all our big out going transfers would be sorted before the season started so this would be quite disappointing, especially considering our need for a fast start to make up for the null of void that the club handed out last season. If he does go then we'll need to spend big on his replacement. Stephens/Wood screams bang average Championship CB pairing. Solak said we'll have a team stronger than last season, let's see.

Yeah I agree, that SaintsExtra in particular does nobody any favours at all yet people, especially lazy journalists, looking for an angle (and lets face it anything negative about Saints this season will be lapped up) just run with it and it snowballs. 1
Turkish Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The one we really need to get sold is Ramsdale. Big wages and not going to play this season. Surely someone has got to take him, he’s a good keeper. Then we’ve got To find a home for Baz. 4

I doubt it. I think the club would know that wouldn’t happen. Shifting the players you really dont want normally comes at the end of the window as buying clubs work through their options and/or hope for a bargain price.

Christ if someone said we were selling Ramsdale to Eastleigh he would repeat it. Theres nothing selective about the posts. 1
James Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Losing THB this late in the window will be a real sickener but if we get £30m then that is impossible for a championship club to refuse in reality. Bit disappointed in our transfer business this summer, especially after what happened at the end of last season and Dragan’s promises. We are unquestionably weaker than last year (Stewart, Charles and THB will collectively be a big loss), are starting on -4 and will inevitably have to deal with some kind of Tonda ban/situation in mid-September. Frustrating. 2
James Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 1 minute ago, Matthew Le God said: David Ornstein of the Athletic isn't a lazy journalist making things up. True but he’s not always right. He was peddling Yan Diomande to Liverpool as a formality all summer and it turned out to be wrong. Clearly Benfica have bid and, let’s be honest, there’s no way THB doesn’t fancy that move. Whether it gets done at the right valuation though, who knows although the mood music sounds a bit like he will be off.
