Interesting parting shot on LinkedIn from Ben Chorley.

Gushing praise for pretty much every member of senior management at the Club.

With one fairly notable exception…..

This reinforces my thinking that the Club are looking to hold on to Eckert, as either:

- this guy would have stayed if he thought Eckert was leaving, as he seemed on the face of it to like the job he had, and / or

- if Tonda wanted him out, the senior management would have ignored Tonda’s wishes if they were about to get rid of him.

intriguing.

Putting the Tonda stuff to one side for a minute, just looking through his profile, going from Bromley and Swindon to Sports Republic must have been some jump.  Wonder how they sourced him from everyone else available at that point in time.

There is absolutely nothing in has parting comments 😂

He simply may not have worked closely with him.

Remember Tonda is a head coach, I imagine Chorley has more direct links with Rasmus and Spors than the first team.

Still, didn’t stop Sky from positing about it like it was some kind of breaking news. Fannies.

I love the fact we are the headliners with TalkSPORT with this guy leaving.

So many people are obsessed with us and we are easily the next Millwall x 10.

The comments from this guy is weird regarding Garner. See you soon like he expects him to follow him to his next move?

PS Our English scouts have been shit lately and whoever discovered Larin, Matsuki, Jander, Peretz and Scienza deserves a pay raise and a promotion.

Our English spies were crap as well

The one who failed at Valenciennes and then somehow earned a promotion to us, no loss.

"Rasmus Ankersen — always three steps ahead." So the two relegations are just part of one long plan.

Chorley and Garner were both at Swindon Town together a few years ago.

(The same Swindon Town that got kicked out of the EFL Trophy for cheating this season. Coincidence? :classic_unsure:)

Good last point. Its been awhile since Saints picked up low priced EFL players. Dont get me wrong, they may take awhile to get up to speed but why not look locally a little more.

Sounds like he had a big role here, leading the scouting network, and was the "sporting director" whatever that was. He thanked the first team assistant coach, and you'd imagine that not thanking Tonda was deliberate...the comment about not getting the promotion we deserved must have been aimed at him. Anyways, he's gone, and hopefully it's not too unstable behind the scenes.

Chorley was put in charge as DIrector of Football at Valenciennes 3 years ago.

I seriously wonder if he only was ever under a 3 year contract given the timing.

His time at Valenciennes certainly didnt work out and the "restructuring" that occurred moved him to a newly created position of head of UK scouting.

Agreed though not sure Larin would have ever been good enough for the premier League (had we actually got there ☹️

Sport Republic’s scouting network is weird.

Theyre trying to be this trendy hip business scouting for the group rather than scouts at individual clubs.

This is why there’s so much chopping and changing in roles.

Hardly a surprise recruitment has been iffy in recent years, you could be scouting for Goztepe on Monday and scouting for Southampton on the Wednesday.

Yeah, but don't forget that the instigator of this revolutionary system is "always three steps ahead of everyone else"...

(Not necessarily a positive attribute when you're stood at the edge of a cliff though.... #analogytastic ;) )

I'm not sure itst that radical - go and watch a player, conclude that he's not good enough for club a, but could do a job at club b, and/or may become good enough for club a after a season or two at the other club. Seems an efficient way of doing it.
