Arizona Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Burnley beating Sheff Utd. Okay it's not that exciting, but IF they win Saturday's game wont be do or die for them.

rocknrollman no2 Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 If only things worked out like that. We all thought Saints could beat a Charlton side who faced certain relegation and look at how that turned out.
Flyer Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Isnt that bad news, a win on Saturday will confirm a playoff spot for them no matter what happens elsewhere.
gaz Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 If only things worked out like that. We all thought Saints could beat a Charlton side who faced certain relegation and look at how that turned out. Indeed. For most of the season, our results have been totally random. Beating playoff sides and losing to fellow strugglers.
SFC Forever Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Time to beat another plasyoff side then, I guess.
Papa Shango Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 It doesn't matter either way. Burnley were the best side I've seen all season, they could have been 7-0 up at half time when we played at Turf Moor. Saints 0-3 Burnley, hello League 1. benjii Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 I'm sure, like most people, that the reason I'm going on Saturday is out of some macabre sense of loyalty and with little to no expectation of anything good coming of it.

AlfredKo Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 I didn't see them play too much this season. If their standard is close to Wolves and Brimingham then we should be in trouble. If their standard is close to Preston and Cardiff then we should be able to have three points given that we play like against Crystal Palace. Ludwig Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 When we bought Wayne Thomas from Burnley for £1.25M (?), they signed Clarke Carlisle for £250k from Watford. We got the better of the two transfers f'sure.

Didcot Saint Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 your all clutching at straws we are down because we simply are not good enough. Burnley will beat us at half pace. Time to realize it's curtains.
um pahars Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Will be vanquished by half-time! You pessimist. We will be level on points with Barnsley and above Norwich come 5pm this Saturday with it all to play for at Forest (of course we'll fck that up though!!!!) benjii Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 I actually think Forest will be safe by the time we play them and if we can beat Burnley we will have a great chance of staying up. I just can't see us doing a job on Burnley. Probably because I've been to loads of matches this season and I've only seen us win once. In the Cup. The Mickey Mouse Cup. In August. ulstersaint Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Some weeks ago I thought of flying over from Belfast for the last home game v Burnley in the vain hope that it might be part of another great escape. Now I'm glad I didn't bother - it would have been a waste of money. I managed to get to 2 home games this season: 0-0 v Charlton and 0-0 v QPR. Kind of sums up a dreadful season. Now I'm resigned to League 1 and a new start for the club under new owners.

Blanco Saint Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Our main hope is that this league continues to through curve ball random results and allow us to win our last two games. Some how unlikely, we would not deserve them, but hey ho. That is the tiny thread that i shall be attaching myself too. You can try to hold on too, but if your to heavy the thread may snap, beware.:smt018
Badger Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Have we beaten Burnley at SMS yet ? My fuddled brain thinks two 0-0 draws, and a 1-0 home defeat.Hope thats right because if so we are due a win against them. Sorted.Leaving aside the obvious limitation that we are crap, and very few of our players are up for a fight.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 The team have given up - they don't give a toss because many of them will be plying their extremely limited talents elsewhere next season. And for that reason this Sat. will see us lose 1-3 or 1-4.

Ken Tone Posted 21 April, 2009 Share Posted 21 April, 2009 Saturday will be the last time we see St Mary's with over 23,000 in it for a very long time! :-( Not if we do well in L1. If we go on a long winning run next season the fair weather fans will return, even in div 3. People like to watch their side winning, almost regardless of the division. Meanwhile I'll be there for the burnley game as I have all season, because ... oh. K.
