  1. It seems like your part of the world has a bit of a problem with harassing Muslims unnecessarily ... http://www.gothamgazette.com/index.php/civil-rights/4276-citys-muslims-report-harassment-by-police
  2. Brough. Middlesbrough.
  3. something to do with rugby i think? not sure we'd fill much of a stadium for rugby, didn't even know we had a team!
  4. I think the situation in the US at the date of that video is slightly different to the situation now in Southampton. Taking Science as an example - there is no reason why the workforce should not mirror the population demographic for postgraduate students of Science degrees, (average it over the last 15-20 years, if you think there have been recent changes). Educational opportunity is identical, qualifications identical, and yet the workforce is not indicative of that...
  5. I think the reason is that if you leave people to 'judge everyone equally and fairly, regardless of x,y,z', then certainly in a lot of industries, the demographic makeup of your company should represent that of the population as a whole. Unless we are saying, e.g. white men can't jump, black women are all about the booty etc. etc. So the fact that it doesn't, in the vast majority of industries, is indicative that despite best intentions otherwise, there is an inherent racism issue. Education and tolerance in society can help to improve this, but it's naive to think this is enough. If you really want to enforce equality, you need to correct for that inherent racism by legislation, e.g. quotas or the rooney rule, etc. Everyone's a little bit racist. Sometimes. Doesn't mean we go around committing hate crimes. Look around and you will find noone is really colour blind. Maybe it's a fact we all should face - everyone makes judgments based on race.
  6. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/03/5000-1-outsider-leicester-city-bookmakers Ta dah! (awaits applause)
  7. tbf, i can see this manure side losing to Bournemouth, and stoke away is a tricky tie for 'West Ham', could see us sneaking 5th on the final day still. It'd be nice to go into Sunday with a chance of 5th at least. don't understand why some fans prefer 6th to 5th.
  8. not even though is it. If I said to you, you can have two goal kicks every game next season, that should have been corners, but to even it out, I'm going to give the opposition one free goal every game, would you take it?
  9. Also, it was a pass to Kane. If kane had not been there, they wouldn't have made the pass in the first place. If kane had not been there, Forster would have played the angles for Son as the sole runner, instead of covering both. If kane hadn't have been there, they wouldn't have scored. If he had of blown for offside, there would have been no mention of it, it would have just been a saints free kick and no one would have thought anything of it. We've not had many good refs this year, pundits always say it evens out, which means we should get a few dodgy decisions going our way next week.
  10. Actually, it is true. Peter Schmeichel has won the league (TRUE), had a son (TRUE), and that son has won the league in the time since Liverpool last won the league (ALSO TRUE).
  11. Also, I hate when people say, usually in gameshows and reality TV, there is a e.g. 50% chance to win or lose, because there are two contestants. no, your chances aren't 50% because the other person is generally better, higher IQ, or fitter than you, so your chances are not 50:50. If I went in the ring with Mike Tyson, I would not have a 50:50 chance of winning a fight.
  12. Statistically speaking, the above is more likely to be true than not, certainly the big profile names all fit that profile. How Michael Gove has the gall to pretend he knows anything about anything after his appalling stint as Education secretary I will never know. A big percentage of teachers will vote in just to be contrary to Gove, I'm sure he does more damage than good, although, as someone who will vote in, he is actually doing a good job from my perspective.
  13. I'll bite, even though this is obviously fishing. Steven Davis: 2 goals Oriel Romeu: 2 goals Dusan Tadic: 8 goals Victor Wanyama: 1 goal James Ward Prowse: 2 goals so we do have midfielders who can score 'solitary goals', and on multiple occasions. Even if we take you literally to mean you want midfielders who score 1, and only 1 goal, then we still have Wanyama. If you want midfielders who only score a single goal in their career, you may be right, I don't know if we have any of those.
  14. Or, to put it another way, if they had just moved on after the taylor report they could have got on with their lives without all the hassle. They got everything needed from the taylor report, it's just about vengeance now.
  15. ran a predictor, they can theoretically still finish 5th, behind Manure arsenal and man city. which would be hilarious.
  16. I think everyone will agree on this one. sounds like she got 'irate' at the airport too, sounds like a horrible human being.
  17. i think it was resurrected because one of the detectives working on the mcann case wrote a book about how neglectful/evil they were, and got done for libel, and ordered to pay the Mccanns a ton of money (last year). He appealed, and last week was successful in getting the libel conviction overturned, and is now allowed to sell his book again. He is also suing the mccanns for defamation. The mccanns are now taking it to the high court or something like that, and a final decision will get made as to whether or not he has to pay damages. The mccanns are threatening legal action against anyone who tries to sell the book in the uk, which seems a bit off if you ask me, if they have nothing to hide they could have ignored it and it probably wouldn't have sold particularly well. now lots of people are more curious to read it. Personally, I think they shouldn't have left her. It's like when you leave home on a hot day, and you think 'should i leave the window open?'. If you do, and you get burgled, it's your own fault really. If you think, should I leave my child on their own and go get rat-arsed, you take the risk that they will die in your absence, or get kidnapped, and if those things happen, i think it is your own fault too, you take the risk, you take the consequences. What does get me a little bit is that there are plenty of other kids gone missing through no fault of the parents who aren't pretty and blonde who don't get anywhere near as much attention as the Mccanns.

  19. If it works better, why suggest doing it differently? Not sure you will find politicians who act with honesty and transparency ahead of their own political agenda. If they did, they wouldn't get in power, because there will always be someone else willing to bend the rules to win.
  20. interesting - it also seems to show that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing - every age group increases it's probability of voting the wrong way with a little bit of education, before decreasing again at higher levels.

  22. There were a couple in the second half of Liverpool that came off.
  23. I think that the gap between "arguably decent", and "crap" (e.g. Paul telfer, chris baird, Lee and the like) is probably smaller than the gap between 'best player in the world' and "one of the best players in england", so I'll go for MLT as the most over rated.
  24. could play Yoshida as part of back 3, and have Bertrand on the left side. question is, is Bertrand and Targett better than Yoshida and Bertrand? I think it is, so I'm happy for him to stay in. He's an option is all. You could argue that bringing targett in with the new formation saved our season - people were talking about relegation before then...
  25. I actually like it. It's modern, unique, and it is representative of the digital age, whilst maintaining some of the tradition. Maybe if we start a fan backlash (against it not being the new badge), they will actually make it.
