very dissapointed to see him go and only the fact that I knew he had to leave for both the club and his own career has lessoned the blow from the Bridge-like nightmare. I think I am more dissapointed at the reaction of the `supporters' on here than anything else. 22 year old Surman has given everything over the last few seasons and all people can point to is a miss against QPR. Ok so his form came and went but that happens with young players. Mark my words he will be replaced by a much much worse player and in 12 months time you will look back and yearn for the likes of Surman who have terrific first touches and the ability to play in tight spaces.

rubbish, there are so many managers and ex players out of work not to mention coaches and even managers in work that would jump at the chance of the Saints job. A new owner brings new hope. Whether they turn out to be good is a different story.

My guess is that this deal has been on the cards for a while and he hasn't been holding on for a contract from Southampton he has just been keeping this deal to himself. Best of luck to the guy, he has earned the move IMO.

its funny that despite him being close to being CCC keeper of the year we seriously thought that he'd be happy to hang around all summer waiting for a new League 1 lower pay contract to appear when quite clearly he could get himself even more money on his bosman. the drop down in division is goign to help him shine next season and perhaps the likes of Lancashire can cope at that level as well. I remember Mills and Monk both having to drop down a division and they have both become decent players and more than coped when they moved back up a level. if the PInnacle deal goes through I assume the Surman deal will still go through though? I have to laugh at those on here that slate Surman right left and centre yet he is apparently a hairs wisker from joining a premiership side.

interesting that we would allow Molyneux to go out on a trial despite him being under contract. I still don't know why he was signed when Mills looked more than capable and quite clearly would improve with more games under his belt. Has Mills signed a new deal yet?

if cleaning the slate means getting rid of talented young players that have yet to reach their peak and replacing them with journeymen ****e then I'll give that tactic a miss thanks.

as much as I chastised him last season for only making 5 tackles in total I still can see the potential in him and would like him to stay. People have to remember his age before writing him off. I have to laugh at all those that think he would be better at a higher level. Quality players will shine more in the lower league not less - you have MORE time not less the lower you go down the leagues.

I see Pearson has taken my advice and signed N'Guessen from Lincoln. Shame, just what we needed IMO. Still we have Holmes, Sigh.

because it might save the club and subsequently their job in the long term. Look around you, people up and down the country are being made unemployed and more and more companies are asking employees to work for free for a week or two to help save the companies from extinction. If the employees don't want to do this then they can leave. I must add that I don't think the situation is nice but it is acceptable and yes if I was asked to do the same at my comapny to try to secure a long term future I would.
