Manolo Gabbiadini: Joins Sampdoria - Official
pimpin4rizeal replied to Portugalsaint's topic in The Saints
Personally based on what we see on the pitch I am shocked that gabbi never gets a look in..by far our most balanced striker..would u really prefer to start Austin and long ? -
I like lemina but think he can be a little style over substance.. good player to watch for sure but how much of his play contributes to us winning games ? Personally I think hojbjerg has been arguably the better of the pair this season. His drive breaking up play and shooting has been very good..
-
Thought valery looked terrible on the ball vs Arsenal. Doesn't seem to have a clue what he's doing running with it
-
but most of our fans were w**nking over the signings like boufal vestergaard elyounoussi etc. most of our fans get excited by whoever we sign until it becomes evident they suck
-
thought we look the better team so far
-
where is this new coming from?
-
Is it really fitness that's the problem near the end of the games though ? Or is it a fragile mentality and playing deeper inviting the opponent onto us more whilst we just try told hold out?
-
Thought for majority of game this was the best we have looked this season. Why the likes of gav I and Armstrong get ignored so often baffles me.. they looked great in pre season so why always benched? Liked what I saw from hoedt today.. made some good tackles passed the ball well and even went past a player with a roulette.. Regarding hughes will he learn from the positives from the likes of gabbi and Armstrong today or go back to the same dross ? We played some good stuff today but again a bit fragile near then end of the game seems standard we invite pressure on ourselves late on
-
think hoedt has been quality today. some great link up play from Armstrong and gabbi impressive too. why haven't these two been playing all season ?
-
Absolutely love the line up.. gabbi and Armstrong in. About time fancy us to take this now and this is our strongest line up of the season for me
-
In two minds about this.. still think he was the lesser of the evils and probably had his hands tied when Kat took over so not gonna lay all the player sales on his doorstep. We had a purple spell with recruitment when considering we spend a lot less on players then maybe clubs wasn't gonna last for ever so maybe we were a bit spoiled in that department ?
-
Totally agree.. I don't think elyounoussi is close to being as good as boufal, it's a shame Hughes didn't use some good management instead of just sending him away on loan after his strop

Southampton's wretched home form a recipe for relegation
pimpin4rizeal replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
It's starting to look like selling to gao, was ideal for keeping their own feet under the table. I'm sure he was sold the idea of the successfull behind the scenes team on the board and look at our record of finding bargains and selling for a profit etc. -
Gunn- good backup but I stick with what I said in the summer, money could have been better spent getting in another attacking wide player, or another cb. Vester- seems average so far. Not as dominant in the air as I thought he would be and hasnt really strengthened our defence over last year. Armstrong, I do like the look of him especially in pre season, can get forward and make good runs, but the 442 formation is killing his chances of getting time right now. Elyounoussi- looks poor, not seen anything impressive from him so far struggled to impact games and looks a bit naive on the ball like he expect people not to try tackle him. Ings- the one signing that has actually improved the first team, knows where the net is and looks a live wire.. I wasn't enthusiastic about him signing at all but hands up happy to be wrong .
-
Imo les is the lesser of the evils on the board, would much rather see the back of Krueger and cat, les was hear for the good times and has done some good things, cortèse also rated him. It's started going downhill since kreuegar and cat came in and I'd say there's a good chance he was under orders from them on the sales etc
-
Why not? Doubt players really have a problem joining us.. we have still been great as a stepping stone.. only problem for us is getting blown out of the water with wages or fees?
-
Like I was saying in the summer, would have made more sense to sign another cb or attacking wide man then likes of gunn.so far it's looking another poor window bar ings. Elyounoussi looks much worse then boufal and tadic imo. Armstrong looks interesting but can't get in the side. And vestergaards impact isn't changing much better on his own
-
Think this situation was inevitable with us selling all of our best players over and over, we had a purple/lucky patch of selling and replacing with better but this was never going to last forever. The likes of West Ham and Everton spend more and it is hit n miss so we were never gonna keep finding these gems..
-
To be fair from the times ive watched puels Leicester side, I think they have played fast exciting attacking football, have some great talents and bags of pace and skill. Maybe how limited our side is makes a big differance ?
-
Why is hoedt still getting grief for yesterday. Made two crucial blocks in a row in the scramble where the ball was pinging around our box
-
disagree with this, we are fine for a manager looking to get a job in the premier league, unless they of the caliber of klopp pep or sarri the manager isnt gonna walk into a big club so will be left with the rest and the only vacancies that open will be the teams that dont start great. if leeds can attract bielsa why are we so unnatractive?
-
quite baffling selections from hughes now. 1 why do we keep only playing 2 cms and giving up the centre of the park? 2 gabbi and armstrong looked our best players pre season gabbi seems to be 4th choice striker (must be getting really frustrated) whilst armstrong since picking up a injury hardly to be seen 3 where the hell is yoshi?
-
On the fence with Hughes myself, not exactly a super exciting appointment but happy to give him a chance. A few posts here slagging him off for not knowing his best formation seems a bit harsh, I think so far he seems quite tactically flexible which is quite refreshing after seeing mp do the same mistakes over and over. Didn't most people on her want the 442 after the second half at Burnley ? Biggest gripe for me is gabbi still seems way down the pecking order even after saving us last season and having a decent preseason, long is still called upon before him
-
This^ maybe it worked less effective yesterday as we played more of a 3-4-3 with Redmond and Armstrong wide where if we played 352 we could have three central midfielders so definitely not outnumbered in cm. I'd quite like to see this line up McCarthy Yoshida vestergaard hoedt Cedric. Lemina romeau. Bertrand Armstrong Gabbi ings
-
likewise, thought he was a lot better then usual today, but still thought on a lot of occasions he takes too long to release the ball and takes too many touches
