  1. Friday April 6th against Wales in a WC qualifier.. 7pm kick off.
  2. Cheers, thanks for the heads up. Presumably not on a Sunday when we play. When my team went to Fratton for a similar game it reminded me what a ramshackle ground it is.
  3. yeah, but it's like Christmas though, barely getting to sleep and then waking early for all the goals and excitement.. Well, sort of... And a nice long day beyond that to take it all in.
  4. Yeah. Funny that Hypo was the one to start it too. I'm sure there's a career at The Daily Mail waiting for him. As usual there's a fair bit of ignorance on this thread, and happy to display it as well, so no different from normal then! Others seem more informed or, more my own view, not give a to**. As it happens I've met a hermaphrodite who defined as female. I know of an Intersex person in Brighton who was quite happy being intersex, and didn't want to be pigeonholed into the binary gender model - and why should they? As DuncanRG points out, it's a simple matter of politeness. I know many women, both married and unmarried, who use Ms and if you don't understand why then I can't be ar*ed to explain. See you all on Sunday. :-)
  5. Yeah, let's hope Wetherspoons and The Samaritans have extra staff on.
  6. I didn't realise they were playing at home. Just seen a picture in the Guardian match report and there were so many empty blue seats it looked like Fratton Park..
  7. I've just got in from a lunchtime pint, and a quick perusal of the match thread confirms that, once again, you've descended with glee like a vulture on a corpse or a fly on a steaming turd. Just **** off, would you please?
  8. They'll need to get rid of their frustrations.. Still, we know Long can score at Anfield, but can Davis?:-)
  9. I shall be drinking in one of the village pubs or maybe in the sailing club for a cheaper pint before wandering home to listen to merry Dave Merrington on radio solent. It's a very long time since I've been to Liverpool mind but most of the pubs were OK, as I recall. Individual fans are largely ok, although be prepared to say "pardon" a lot.
  10. In that case you owe me for an extra pint of pain numbing anaesthetic. ;-)
  11. Just a reminder for those gluttons for punishment that the U23s are playing Brighton tonight at Staplewood and it will be on youtube...
  12. I always thought he was fully amortized myself..
  13. I've a season ticket and shouldn't miss any games except when I'm on holiday, and I always stay to the end, but gawd, it's getting to be hard work, only alleviated by things like last week's goal. Yesterday I started hacked off because my women's side couldn't raise a team, so I thought at least I'd be able to watch Saints at the pub. My usual place was showing the boxing, so I jogged home, got on my bicycle and rushed off to an alternative. I missed the first goal , but any hopes we'd build on it soon evaporated. Later I was muttering to myself about Forster's absolutely dire reactions and then about our pedestrian attacks and counter attacks: we play on the brakes not the break. The beer wasn't brilliant either: that, and the complete lack of excitement or tension at least saved me money by limiting my intake. So on to the Burnley game. It could be worse, I could be a Baggies fan, but please, give us something to cheer about, something to enthuse us all.
  14. What money?
  15. Bradford 1 up at the moment. It may well be getting noisier. With all the boos..
  16. Hmm, they've made a reasonable point, so do I go earlier and sing or not trust them and get to my seat at the last minute?! To be honest, if the away fans sing there is always a response from the Northam, even if many of them are still downstairs at the bar. Against West Brom there wasn't much boinging by the baggies, so no need for any response.
  17. Cheers for that. It's a shame that I've other commitments as a few pints in the Marlborough and a Saturday night in Brighton is always fun. It brings to mind the free bus travel in Southampton that was established as part of the planning permission for St.Mary's. How come that never got reinstated when we returned to the top division?
  18. We obviously don't share the same tastes in music as I've never heard of him.
  19. Well, if they want the sub-station moved I suggest they buy some appropriate land and then pay SSE up front for the work. I'm afraid they probably haven't got much credit with their local suppliers...
  20. Crikey, now us oldies will have to teach the kids about useful apps for your smartphone.. Joking aside, it was far too loud where I sit, and distorted to boot. I've stewarded at rock concerts at Wembley Stadium and Arena, Pink Floyd at Hammersmith and bands like The Stranglers at smaller venues. That was my choice and I wore ear protection - could still feel the bass. At a football ground people aren't going there to listen to loud music, there are kids there with more sensitive ears, and it really isn't a question of old fogies not liking the music. I've still got my hearing and want to keep it that way.
  21. Yes, I was making the same points to my neighbours. There was no chance of the crowd making or contributing to any sort of atmosphere, and singing would have been useless. East Kent Saint, thanks and let us know the response, cheers.
  22. Some of you may sn igger at this.. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/oct/22/liverpool-tottenham-dejan-lovren-undefending
  23. if it's the BBC weather app you're looking at, which forecasts 50, I think they give wind in KPH. I bloomin' well hope so. Still windy enough to give Southern Railways reason to delay and a Pulis team to hit it high into the box to enable Forster to show off his command of the 6 yard area. The Guardian write up: "9) More goals from Gabbiadini? The battle between 10th-placed West Bromwich Albion and 11th-placed Southampton is almost certainly the one they’re all talking about."..
  24. To be fair to the residents, the comments in The News were pretty scathing of the idea, and the suggestion for thousands of flats (and some came to the same conclusion as Chez). Others pointed out how run down Commercial Road is, and the absence of restaurants etc. Apart from getting the car ferry to the IOW I'd avoid driving in. Getting to the Dockyard, Mary Rose etc. is far better by train for me.
  25. Hah. Not that old then.:-) A lot of us here have been there and said, blow the boredom and bullsh*t, sod this for a lark.. If you don't remember the Inter City Fairs Cup you're young!
