The cause of the fire is almost irrelevant, fires will always occur in high-rises just like any property. The issue is how it spread, and the speed at which it did. I am amazed that they are allowed to clad these buildings in flammable material, especially given that the advice is to stay put if there is a fire. I read somewhere online that in Germany buildings over a certain height are not allowed to use this sort of cladding, who is supposed to be making these sort of descisions over here? I just hope that people responsible are held to account.

That is of course true, but things are forever changing. The current globalised nature of capitalism where there is little national governments can do to stop huge multinational companies making (taking) billions while nations debts rise toward the trillions can't go on for ever. In Brexit, Trump's election and the relatively huge vote for an extremist like Corbyn we are already seeing a reaction to globalisation. IMO it's inevitably going to go pop at some point and socialism will end up picking the pieces again.

I favoured Brexit but the mess the government are making of it makes me think a second refurendum, when we know the sort of deal on the table, makes sense. Dogmatically following the last 52/48 result over a cliff is just ****ing retarded. Especially if the stats are right and most young people want to stay in, the whole thing will be reversed in a decade anyway.

To be fair isn't the current NI power sharing thing in a bit of a delicate position? plus there is Brexit coming up which could make things worse. If people start killing each other over there because of all this mess the Tories will get much of the blame. They called a referendum they didn't have to and lost, then they called an election for for the benefit of their party and lost their majority. **** knows how these fools are going to negotiate with the EU.

I never once said that but I'm not surprised you didn't understand my point, you seem to have a problem with the simplest of concepts. My point about big business was that when they all spoke out in favour of remain they were just thinking of themselves not how Brexit would effect the general population. Every time the remain campaign wheeled out these bankers and rich business leaders to plead their case it just made a protest vote more likely.

Are they not trying to negotiate a free trade deal with Canada? I assume Canada are not going to have to put up with free movement of people.

Yeah it's not hard to understand. My point was that if there was a deal that meant we got a better deal and it benefited the EU they wouldn't do it because they need to make sure we get a worse deal just to make a point. They won't do a single thing that gives us any sort of advantage because we are a competitor, rights and responsibilities don't come into it.

Of course they won't say it but that's what they will do. The moment we triggered article 50 we stopped being with them and became their competitor. That's how capitalism works, there will be countries in the EU who will want our car industry, countries that want our financial service industry - and the EU will do all it can to make sure they get them.

That's wrong. If there is no deal by early 2019 we go to WTO rules regardless of what our parliament decide. Less Tories and more Labour mean a softer deal is more likely to get through but I can't see the EU giving us a deal good enough, they will go out of their way to make sure we suffer.
