  1. I'm not anti-royal because they do add a fair amount to the British brand. Face it, no one visits Britain for the weather or beaches, our main USP is our history and traditions and I expect the Queen more than makes up for what she costs. But, all the lesser/unknown royals should be stripped of their wealth and forced to sweep the streets. And all this 'duty', 'performed admirably' stuff is nonsense though, for the amount of cash she has got, the least she should do is do her ****ing job.
  2. A bit of a coincidence he had to make this decision the same week he performed a massive u-turn on the Syrian immigration issue.
  3. At the current supply/demand situation I really don't think spending billions to get back the IS controlled fields is of any importance to the U.S.
  4. Of course it was. They wanted rid of Saddam yes but if there was no oil there there would have been no war. The U.S. are not going to spend billions removing a dictator unless there is a prize at the end of it, that is obvious.
  5. Maybe, but if the area they control had any significant strategic importance to the West it would be regained with ease. I'm not saying it's an easy situation to sort out, it's far from that. But militarily IS are nothing. Fact is the Western governments don't give a flying **** about who controls the villages, desert and **** hole towns in Norther Iraq. The only importance is containng the threat of terrorism, and now sorting out the refugee problem. We all know the only reason for the Iraq war was oil, all the crap about Saddam was to justify it politically.
  6. Selling a bit of oil and buying arms on the black market is not an economy. If the West really wanted to they could take control of their areas easily, their is no will because there is no big oil prize.
  7. Because most of the oil is in the other part of Iraq.
  8. Innocent until proven guilty in this country but they were not killed in this country. They were killed by our military in a war zone so I have zero concern about it. It would only be an issue to me if they were being killed on our soil or in places that have some sort of effective police and legal system. The Suns headline is a bit crass but again doesn't bother me, we should all be glad these people are dead.
  9. But you and I, just like Malthus, have no idea what technological advances are around the corner, fossil fuels of every type might pay no part in energy production at some point in the future.
  10. How's that prediction any different to Malthus predicting that in under 60 years time every street in London would be buried nine feet deep in horse manure? Fact is there is more than enough room and resources on the planet for billions more, the problem is the greedy and tribal nature of humans. We can see in this whole asylum debate that some people would rather watch other people die than be slightly poorer.
  11. Yes and yes but I doubt some Syrian family have read the Geneva convention and they were obviously desperate and made a stupid decision. Don't you think the UK should take a little bit of responsibility for ****ing up the region, forcing millions of people into this situation?
  12. I would rather be a refugee here than Turkey. My point was the fact that these people are homeless, jobless and probably skint and hungry - you don't have the faintest idea what they are going through. I've caught the ferry from Turkey to Kos, you don't attempt that in a inflatable dingy unless you are desperate.
  13. If everyone in the EU pulled their weight then it would be 10s of thousands max, not exactly a big deal when you think of the hundreds of thousands who rock up from Poland ever single year. Surely we have a moral obligation considering we ****ed up their region so we could enjoy the benefits of cheap oil.
  14. I'm pretty sure you havn't got a ****ing clue what it's like to flee your home in fear of your life and end up homeless in a place like Turkey. Weird how people seem to have a problem taking in a few thousand of these people yet happily subscribe to be part of the EU and let hundreds of thousands of people who already have homes in their homeland in every year to take our jobs and use our services.
  15. That sort of article is just written to make Telegraph readers feel better about themselves about not giving a ****. Of course the situation in Syria needs sorting out, but that's a long term problem. I can't be done over night. We should take our fair share of refugees AND sort out the mess our government caused when we created the vacume in Northern Iraq. It shouldn't be an either/or, highliging the root cause is just avoiding the immediate issue.
  16. Of course they are right to show the true human cost of the current crisis. The whole debate on immigration is so frustrating. We have this Tory government making all these anti immigration statements yet as being part of the EU we will never ever have control of our borders. It is a simple fact that if you are pro EU you are pro uncontrolled immigration, they is no grey area. Another simple fact is that if we left the EU we could bring in as many skilled foreign workers or help as many of these desperate refugees as we wanted without worrying about numbers.
  17. Fans. Stupid ****ing ipad
  18. Schneiderlin did worse and he had his name sung afterwards. The dans will cheer him because they want him to stay.
  19. I would bite your hand off if offered staying up right now.
  20. Thank **** they've finally dragged Rodriguez off
  21. This is ****ing garbage
  22. **** me, the attendance debate was settled years ago when we were two leagues below them and still averaging more. Above them in a smaller ground - averaged more, below them in a bigger ground - averaged more, we always average more. Their big crowds and success is all ancient history from a time when a bunch of amateurs booted a cow skin around a field watched by as many men in flat caps who could fit into any ground in the country, a time when Charlton Athletic got crowds of 75k plus. It's all irrelivant. Fact is look at the last 50 years and they are just a small lower league club, up for a season in the 80s then a brief spell paid for by the gun runner. 8 years total at the highest level, most of those cheating. In the same time we've only had 11 seasons out of the top flight.
  23. You don't have any more freedom you f@ckwit. Give some loon the right to own an assault rifle and you deprive everyone else the right to live without the fear of getting shot by some maniac. Society needs rules and controls to stop it descending into chaos. Having to own you own killing machine in order to feel safe is not freedom, it's the opposite.
  24. Makes sense, Bournemouth has nice beaches, is near the New Forest and has a nice selection of bars. I expect their next target is Aguero who can't be happy with the weather in Manchester.
  25. Players will go anywhere if you pay them enough, it's all about the money. Of course, all things being equal London is a bigger pull than Southampton but it's not going to be a significant factor. The only way to keep good players is to spend silly money, it's that simple.
