It appears Sir Rickie is not playing to his usually high standards
aintforever replied to Rasiak-9-'s topic in The Saints
I dunno, England are a poor side. -
It appears some rather knowledgable neutrals are also bedwetters: "Southampton out! No game midweek , great position in the league, why oh why would pochettino not play his strongest team .. Ridiculous! - Robbie Savage. "Totally agree. Disrespectful of the competition, Saints supporters, especially those that travelled, and the game." - Gary Lineker

Have you even been to an FA Cup Final?
-
LOL at the SWF mongs thinking we will finish above Man Utd.
-
He was garbage today.
-
Agree, who gives a flying **** wether we finish 7th, 8th or 9th.
-
At least we have a 7th, 8th or 9th place still to concentrate on - wahoo. Should have rested some players midweek. Why don't our management just come out and admit that they don't give a toss about the cups, save all our fans the hassle of going to the games. Lambert's pathetic performance showed why we should have replaced Osvaldo. Our squad is just not good enough, Jos, Kelvin, Guly - doubt they will wear a Saints shirt again. What a depressing way to go out he FA Cup, to Sunderland reserves.

F*cking sh!te.
-
I'm not the best to judge because I tend to cherry pick the best away fixtures but our away support did seem to improve after relegation. I guess as we were in the top flight for so long we just took it for granted, plus we have traditionally been sh!te away from home so it often felt like "oh no, not Anfield again!".

why league season isn't ordinary - Man U's rivals?
aintforever replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
would be great to finish above Man U but wouldn't swap it for a day out at Wembley. -
Great stuff, absolutely no point in taking Ashley Cole to the World cup just to sit on the bench.

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
aintforever replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
No contradiction, a warming planet is bound to change weather patterns and the UK already has unpredictable weather due to it's position in relation to the atlantic, the jetstream and the tropical and polar air masses. I'm no expert on weather but it looks like the meandering jetstream that is causing this current extreme weather was also responsible for the extreme cold we had in 2010. IF climate change has made this the norm then it could be very costly for us. -

aintforever replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
I think it's crystal clear that no one has a clue as to how climate change will effect the UK's weather which is one of the most unpredictable on the planet. Anyone with half a brain would see this a reason to be concerned about how man is effecting the climate. -

Not sure why you would need to rest the goalkeeper? -
A friend of mine had their house flooded over Christmas, it wasn't a nice situation and they have my sympathy. They have received a decent sum from their insurance company, enough to get a pre-existing damp problem sorted out and after getting a mate to do the work they will have some money left over. They accept the fact that a house near a river may flood, payed the relevant insurance and don't expect a government hand out on top. I have had to pay £60 for a tile to be replaced on my house, I'm going to have to pay for a fence post to be re-erected - how much compo should I get off the tax payer?
-
I expect it was one of those suites that had a club legend's name airbrushed out.
-
I feel sorry for them on a personal level, it's not a great situation if you are effected. I just hate this blame/compensation culture, no one is to blame for the situation except mother nature and the people who choose to live on flood plains.
-
Oh dear, they just keep peddling these Portsmyths. Bottom of League 1 and we were still getting bigger crowds than Premier League portsmouth, when we were both in the Championship we were getting bigger crowds than portsmouth, when they had the bigger ground and we were in the old Dell we still had bigger crowds than portsmouth. We will always get bigger crowds than portsmouth.
-
Not sure why anyone should get compensation, isn't things like this why you get insurance? I would rather my money went to people in the 3rd world who actually need it not to re-carpet the house of some ass-hole who thought it was clever to buy a house next to a river. Actually, my back garden is a bit boggy, I fancy getting it paved - how do I apply for compo?
-
Not sure where the room for expansion is there? Tescos will always need space for their lorries at the back, the other two sides penned in by housing. The only scope is to eat into their already small car park and expand the stand on the left - that will have to be some f*ck-off great big stand to get anywhere St Marys capacity as they claim. They would be better off rejecting the Tescos deal, building the club up organically then, when they are at a decent level, hope someone rich is dumb enough to buy the club and land to develop it properly in a decade or two's time. This deal will just see them landlocked. An annoying eyesore eating up space in the corner of a successful superstore's carpark. I expect in an architects drawer somewhere there is a phase 2 plan which consists of a Tescos twice the size, a decent sized car park and no rotting shed top right.
-
Agree with this. I also wouldn't be surprised if it was all part of Cortese's plans, I've heard he had a stake in the club so would probably make a fair few quid out of the sale.

The Police compensationj culture continues
aintforever replied to Viking Warrior's topic in The Lounge
I expect being a copper is a hard job but that is no excuse for doing a bad job, and from my experiences there are plenty who are not up to scratch. IMO the problem, as ever, is lack of funding and resources. If someone feels overworked, underpaid or under-resourced they are not going to perform at their best. Also if the whole force is under pressure the plod are bound to stick together and cover up any failings. Some of the police do a great job but when some MET ***t pushes you for no reason saying "I f*cking hate football fans", it's hard to have any respect at all. -

That's complete nonsense, there would be more people out than in 76, purely because there are more people in the City than there was then. How many on Southsea common were actually die hard pompey fans? Most would be casuals, neutrals or day trippers just enjoying watching the parade - something like that in a provincial town is a once in a life-time thing, and it's free. -
I listened to the radio show about his and have to admit it did change my view on Facebook, it is a very useful tool to some people. I used to think it was pretty pointless and only of any use for attention seeking w@nkers. I go on there once in a blue moon just to see how old friends are getting on, very quickly get bored though. It does have it's negative aspects, I know two people who have been sacked because of stuff they said on facebook. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts, apparently many kids don't go near it because their parents are on it. I expect it will eventually die out and something else will take it's place.
