I think the shaking of a fence fits the description of the law you have posted very well. The law has been carefully worded and suggests that violent disorder can be any act which, if performed within a certain context, could cause somebody fear. It also clearly states that the reasonable person who might be scared can be hypothetical; in other words, they don't actually need to be there. This negates those claims which say this was an unfair sentence because there was "nobody there", or "they weren't shaking a fence" at anybody. That is an irrelevent facor when trying somebody for violent disorder. The police have clearly utilised the law to its potential here, even if they haven't actually handed out the maximum sentence. Now, debate the rights and wrongs of the violent disorder law if you will, but I don't think there's much to be said when it comes to debating whether or not this behaviour constituted violent disorder. It seems to fit your description very nicely indeed.

Details seem rather late on this to be honest. Last year we began preseason on the Saturday 4th July (not quite sure of date - 3rd / 4th? - it was the first weekend in July anyway) at Eastleigh. It was a hot 3pm kickoff if I remember correctly and rumours were rife about the 'Swiss takeover' which was then finally announced the following Monday. Bring that forward 12 months and you'd be lookg at a first preseason game NEXT SATURDAY. That clearly isn't going to happen now. Perhaps we started preseason early last year, but it still feels odd to have details of so few friendlies at this stage. If we do't hear details during next week, I'm going to think it's very strange,

I love this sort of discussion. What you essentially have is a group of guys who can't afford a BMW, trying to justfiy their choice of cheaper. Take money out of the equation and all you Seat lovers would have a BMW in a moment. Next you'll all be saying you shop in Lidl because they make nicer ready meals than Marks and Spencer.

Our loss? We were in for another manager then?
-
That'll give all those plastic fans citing the lack of installment plan as a reason for giving up their season tickets an excuse not go to the first game then.
-
Absolutely SPOT ON. Lock the thread now.
-
Good point. Why don't you write one of your letters and see if the judge will let them serve their sentence in installments?

But Stu knows ALL the answers doesn't he?

The problem is Stu that you are wrong to say the scheme has NO cost to the club. They still need to administer it in SOME way, even if they are not the company responsible for operating such a scheme. Whether that be sending out forms to potential customers, or simply getting a list of interested customers and forwarding it to a credit company for them to then take control of. In this way there has to be some level of indrect cost (staffing etc) to the club in running such a scheme and you continue to not recognise this. Now of course you can argue that you feel this isn't a "high" cost, i.e. argue against their description of the cost, but you'd be fighting a losing battle here becuase at the end of the day it remains their decision as to whether or not they wish to meet this cost. They evidently don't, hence no scheme. In their eyes, any unnecessary cost could be deemed to be 'high'. So yeh you can say it reduces the good feeling you have about the club becuase you hoped they'd care more than that etc, that's fair enough but it remains subjective. In other words, it comes down to what you expect from the club. You can't say they're liars etc though as it simply isn't true. I personally hope you stop bleating on about anyway as it really is tedious. I don't think you're gaining any further followers to your cause from those that agrred with you on the very first day. In fact, I'd say you're probably losing people's interests by failing to move on. Several times now you've said "I'm not saying more on the subject" or words to that effect, only to continue to debate the matter again at a later stage. On that logic, I hope you don't bother to reply to this post. ;-)

Renewed mine and my mate's this morning. Mange to move from block 32 to (effectively) slap bang on the halfway line in block 31 as well, so really looking forward to taking up those seats for the first time

is that what you think you're going to get with your new iphone? Unlikely.

o2 were the only provider offering truly unltd data, now their limits are going to be on the stingy side in my opinion. Vodafone cap non-iphone smartphones at 500mb (iphone = 1gb)nad now charge as soon as you go a meg over. Orange cap at 500mb for non-iphone smartphones (iphone = 750mb) as well. It really is a joke tbh. There's no point supplying the phones if they're not prepared to let people use at least 1gb of data per month. I use a fair bit of wifi on my phone, but one month I left it on 3g all the time and went about my normal business, including the downloading of a couple of albums bia amazon mp3 stors and I hit 2.5gb of data downloaded. People say that 500mb of data is plenty, but if you're actually going to use the phone as it's designed to be used, they are just plain wrong. I could probably live with a 1gb cap as I can switch over on to wifi quite a lot, but I'm pleased T-Mobile offer a reasonable 3gb download cap on all Android phones.

and the hilarious thing is that o2 announced yesterday that they were ditching the unltd data with their smart phone tariffs. Tariffs will now come with either 500mb, 750mb or 1gb. So you can stay on your unltd tariff as long as you don't ever want a new handset. Upgrade your handset and youcan kiss goodbye to the data. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2010/jun/10/o2-iphone-tariffs-unlimited-end

They shouldn't make anything with an 'M' badge and a diesel engine.

No, I can have a choice of 100 or 300 mins, 100 texts, a booster which can be used to make landline calls or mobile calls or texts untld and 3gb internet. What can I do with mobileme that I can't do for free with google and dropbox? And your point is? Why on earth do I want to pay £869 (based on voda costs) for an iphone over 2 years when my phone will do exactly the same - and some things better - for just £449???
-
Except that my Desire costs just £15 a month to run and still does my google integration better than the iphone.
-
Stu ... you do realise that it's not the club's responsibility to offer financial services to fans don't you? Surely it's YOUR problem if YOU can't afford a season ticket and not Nicola Cortese's.
-
Someone should facebook Brian Stock and ask him if there's any truth in it; I think he has an account on there.
-
Nope.... they simply charged your debit or credit card in a series of installments.
-
no mention of javi? scandalous

Priorities gents ... once NC has got our catering in order so that we can proudly boast of having a 'best in class' package, he may turn his attention to 'on the pitch' affairs. Our catering is going to be the envy of League One, if not the Championship and beyond.

St Etienne interested in Schneiderlin
sotonjoe replied to forever a red and white's topic in The Saints
If they are Ligue 1 I expect he will go. Reasons being, the suggestions he wasn't happy about having to play in League 1 last Summer and the apparent uneasy relationship with Pardew. However, I HOPE he doesn't as he's been good this season. -
the curve 8520 doesn't have 3g so internet will be slllooooowwwwww.

Why on earth would somebody want to send more than 67 texts per day?
