I don't think a club can rely on continually changing the squad in an extensive and costly way each window to constantly improve and claim to be ambitious. It's up to the Manager to get the best out of the squad rather than rely on a new purchase to do the job for him, besides the ethos and ambition of the club is to progress as much of the academy products to the first team.

I'm not sure that there will be a huge amount spent in the summer especially if MP can get a couple of the decent Espanyol players that are free at the end of the season. A couple of aspects he was brought in to do was - work with the current squad and improve them; and integrate the youth players into the team so, much will depend of the deficencies he finds to possible transfer targets.

Indeed, they do get paid eventually but Saints are certainly the worst culprits of the clubs he deals with. Also, this isn't directly NC.
