  1. I only ever bought three singles, it was albums all the way for me!
  2. A couple of things to think about: 1 what were the state of the other teams? 2 I bet they were well drilled in the 4-4-2 and long ball before the start of the new season. i think on the whole there are better teams in the prem now and Saints just haven't got it together with the new formation and system which is bound to hinder getting the points so its a huge gamble by someone.
  3. I'd go along with that but finding it hard to believe it will happen... Like why it didn't in the summer!
  4. Who's this we? There are are 38 games in the the prem last time I looked, some harder than others but all potentially up for a win as Norwich and Swansea showed last season. You made an error in saying Saints have played teams all over the league when clearly we've played many more from the top than the bottom (8 to 2). If Saints win tomorrow then it's encouraging but still only worthy of 5 out of 10. Mainly due to the schoolboy errors, but recruitment hasn't helped when the defence should have been strengthen more than it has and the lack of flexibility in setting team tactics to the opposition.
  5. I should say we do well in developing the youngsters, even giving them additional time if they haven't peaked. It's only now back in the prem it'll be easier to keep them and that is the worry - what if we go down can we keep them and can they make the transition from 'reserve' squad to first team squad. Will the highly rated youngsters still be tempted by the bigger clubs or stick with it here in familiar surroundings and team mates?
  6. Indeed, pace isn't an asset if others aren't quick of thought or have an understanding of each other. Besides I think it would be better to have the acceleration over a few yards and see a pass than pure pace.
  7. Played 49, won 13, drawn 11 and lost 25. A 26.5% win ratio is bound to get you a championship job interview, surely? (NB Adkins has a 47.2% career win ratio).
  8. Cork and Richardson should be back to full training next week.
  9. It'll soon be forgotten by those interested in speed. The best way for those to learn is by going to visit the morgue or the intensive care ward to see the actions of their counterparts and the direct actions they themselves caused.
  10. Saints defence playing Santa.
  11. Oh dear
  12. Best action of the match so far for us.
  13. If you are out of contract you can sign for another club (as long as the old club releases the player's registration). I think it is a maximum of playing for two clubs in a given season which would stop the proliferation of this type of behaviour. The club would also be exposed to the risk of a mass exodus so if anything a club would have six or so players on a longer term contract (one year plus) with the others short term (less than a season).
  14. Thanks for that, an enjoyable and certainly not ephemeral read!
  15. Just been clearing out my attic and came across a few of these comics by Gilbert Shelton. They were fantastic stories, with great illustrations. The stories were mainly all about raising money to buy a bit of marijuana. There were side stories of Fat Freddy's cat an the cockroaches. Anyone else remember them? Btw issue one worth £400 now!
  16. J Cork. Knee Injury. Back 5th Nov 12
  17. More like parody than irony?
  18. What season?
  19. Of course, it's easier without the strings.
  20. As we are stuck with 4-3-3 then this: --------------------Gazza-------------------- Clyne------Fonte------Yoshida------Shaw -----Cork----Schneiderlin----Davis---- ----Ramirez----Lambert----Lallana---- Subs: Boruc, Fox, Richardson, Hooiveld, JWP, Rodriguez, Mayuka, Lee
  21. I would have thought Les Reed was a better bet if you wanted to go with the academy line.
  22. SRL has better control and vision.
  23. I thought they would only be arriving next season when we've got into Europe?
