I assume if there was no bubble then police would have to spread out more to cover all potential meeting points. Whether they would use more police for that or just spread them out is the question...

£700,000 seems an enormous number! In 2025 there was an estimated £70m additional cost for policing all football matches up and down the country, but Skates v Saints accounts for 1% of that? Assuming the additional cost is purely manpower (vehicles, hardware etc will already be paid for), also assuming £400 per police officer for the day (8 hours of overtime at £50 per hour?), that would mean an additional 1,740 police officers on duty for one match.
