  1. We're of a similar age Toomer (you've got a handful of years on me tho' Grandad but...) so we're from the same sort of era. I understand the Chapel is never going to turn into some hotbed of chanting but just more noise would be good. What happened to a good old fashioned blood-curdling roar when the home team piles forward. Everyone just seems to hold their breath these days. I witnessed the Saints defence melt many times up north in the 70s when those crowds got up a head of steam. C'mon, bring back the 'roar'!
  2. The club should do what other English clubs have done for European games and put flags on the seats in the Chapel against Inter. It might get them involved a bit. If nothing else it will increase the noise levels as all the miserable old gits will be moaning "get those ******** flags out the way". Win win.
  3. Double-edged sword, new manager syndrome or if FDB is still in charge he'll desperately need wins to save his job in which case Inter will be putting out their strongest 11. Hopefully the confidence hasn't taken too big a knock after yesterday.
  4. Chelsea were very good as were their fans. If ever a side needed their own fans to step up and really get behind the team then yesterday was a good example but, once again, it never happened. It's a walk in the park for visiting sides at St Mary's. You don't have to sing, just make some noise, we attack the Chapel in near silence, bizarre at a football match. Romeu was really the only player to come out of that with good marks, beaten by the better side but we're better than yesterday's performance. Bounce back against the Italians.
  5. Ah, OK, that explains it. Can't remember how it worked last season for Arnhem and Midtjylland at home, obviously paper tickets.
  6. Considering all this, it seems strange that they didn't save themselves loads of extra work for the 3 home Europa matches and just upload them to our Season Ticket smartcards, no doubt there was a logical reason.
  7. ...and Div 4 is exactly where they need to stay, it's the only league they can say with a grain of truth that they're a "big club". In League One they'd 'one' of the bigger clubs...for tht league, in the Championship they'd be around 'average' and (don't laugh) if they ever made it back to the Premier League, they'd be minnows. Again.
  8. For a big city I thought the locals were very friendly, I've read that a few young lads got chased down the street by a crazed dress wearing geezer swinging a big knife around (like you do) but I can't say we encountered anything but cheery folk. Very good trip but (other than a few hours taking in the sights) a city you'd really only visit for the football.
  9. Alan Ball Youth/Senior: Kevin Phillips, Dennis Wise
  10. As we're all off to Italia seems only right to do an adaptation of 'Amore' (clears throat): When Cuco hits the ball, like he did 'gainst Ars'nal, That's Martina, It may have been luck, but we don't give a f***, That's Martina.
  11. Why? We get better every year. I'd change some of our numpty fans.
  12. Yep, fits well...but might be pushing our luck a bit! Happy to hear it ringing round the San Siro though.
  13. You know we'll just get the ususl slow OWTSzzzzz on constant repeat broken occasionally by the odd ditty about some insignificant 4th division rabble. We could do worse than adapt this again "...and when we WIN in Europe, this is what we'll sing, we're Sou...etc." about the only chant we sing reasonably loud.
  14. I think we're taking around 7,500, the section holds nearer 9,000, there should be plenty of seats at the edges to move into if someone really wants to sit. Great there's a big night on the road again but hope the atmosphere is more Derby away (playoffs) than Sheffield Utd away (LC).
  15. Same here but a bit surprised there's not been a request to complete details for GiftAid to bump it up a bit, usually is with these charity text donations.
  16. A facetious **** would say "every time they play 'away' at AC Milan" but I wouldn't be that flippant myself, of course. A lot of our fans may have to break a habit of lifetime and have to actually turn up early for this one if they want to be in by kick-off. The Itie security aint gonna worry about loads of irate English fans still stuck outside waiting to have their tickets checked while Charlie knocks in the second just before half time.
  17. Probably all just a storm-in-a-espresso-coffee-cup, might all depend on the result tho! Keep the score down Saints
  18. East Fife 4 Forfar 5
  19. For most of us it's not about one game against a team of amateurs, more about his consistent contribution to club and country. You didn't need to have seen the game to make that judgement.
  20. The thing is, it would never be like the originals from the 80s, everything is too polished today, the laying up, the printing, the paper and as for content, the libel! They'd never get away now with what they did back then. I haven't seen it yet but never really expected it to be too much like the old UI, more a glossy modern day mag with a bit of edgy humour. It's a nice day, might dig out a few old 'Uglies' and sit out in the garden reminiscing with a few beers.
  21. I'd say you're right, there's 1 or 2 on here that probably don't fully appreciate the value he brings but as for "getting stick" I'd just write that off to the trolls/grizzlers/skates and unlikely to have ever set foot inside St Mary's. As this is more about showing our admiration for the fella then I'll add my appreciation for one of our best ever value signings. Top man.
  22. That was part of the appeal back in the day, when it looked liked it had been chucked together in somebody's spare room, the original 'cut and paste'. The Ugly Inside fanzine set a good benchmark for originality and humour (if a bit too political from one or two towards the end), look forward to picking one up at the next home game.
  23. OK...but you have to ask then, why do you need one for Milan when there's so many tickets available? The bit about the Israelis letting anyone into the Saints section should still raise questions from SFC.
  24. What's probably more bizarre is how he got a ticket in the first place, surely it must mean he already had a purchase history? If not, how is casual Forest fan allowed to buy one for a European Saints game but a genuine casual Saints fan not? Also, UEFA rules must have been broken by the Israelis by letting non-Saints fans into the away section which could have caused a volatile situation? This would have backfired on SFC if there was trouble. There seems to be double-standards at play here.
  25. It's warming to see they've shelled out for our old hand-me-down socks from the 60s/70s
