Altogether now..."C'mon Virgin, C'mon Virgin..." -
Again...same every summer.

This stage last season we were getting dicked 0-3 at home to Everton. Didn't turn out too bad in the end.

From memory I remember these two from 1984... ...was at both and very enjoyable ways to spend a Friday night.

If he went to Everton we'd all be scratching our heads, but CL or not, the chance to play for one of the world's biggest clubs is a head-turner. If Real Madrid or Barca were in for Fonte most would instantly understand and accept his departure, it's really because it's Man Utd. And they'll be back in the CL next year. Hope he stays but if he goes to a club like the mancs I wouldn't blame him, appreciate the years he gave us and just get over it.

The 657 must be having the time of their little lives Tbf the 4th division tiddlers have a right to feel robbed, after all, they were the original 'Shrimps', a nickname that they could have been so proud of today.

I just can't see the fit at this stage of his career for Man U. Could it possibly be that we're playing them in Mourinho's first home game in front of the watching world and a bit of mind-games may have in play here? It's certainly kept apart 2 of the best CB pairings in the run-up. If United's (supposed) interest suddenly cools after next Friday then JM may have played a blinder.

Just because they sponsor our shirts doesn't mean we have a monopoly on Virgin's good will. They're putting something back into football for the fans, good on 'em, more than Sky have done over the years. If they had been another club's sponsors then we'd have benefitted too but I like their thinking and glad they're here, I'm sure we'll benefit other ways throughout the season on top of what they've already done.

That just sounds like they're 'rounding' up in a big way! Max visitors allocation is usually just over 3,100, it can't be any more because of the dividing barrier in the concourse and segregation netting behind the goal. The only way they could get another couple of hundred seats is if the club are just going to use a line of stewards to separate rival fans. I guess Watford fans may be seen as low risk.

You're right, exactly how safe standing would work. Facfty- fact.
-
I'll try again... It still would have if too many people were trying to cram in there with no escape for the ones at the front. I'm being facetious, just pointing out it was the fences that caused fatalities, not terracing. Today's safe standing would be among the safest parts of stadiums, standing in seated areas, that you won't stop, is potentially an accident waiting to happen.

Me too, flashbacks to when we signed Ronnie Ekelund...hopefully minus the back problems!

Yeah, you're right, of course. Can't see our home gates being a big income raiser for them though, how many will be willing to pay enough to make it work? OK, I'm only gleaning a bit of info from this thread, don't think this competition is gonna grip too many fans attention!

I 'd go with a "no" if we had a vote, can see the benefit for the younger lads but we could do without having to field 5 'first-teamers' with Europe on our plate. Make it free for season ticket holders if we must to at least attract some kind of crowd.

Fookin'ell let's not beat him up over that, half of our supporters can't even pronounce it properly. I've had fans from Dorset and Wiltshire sitting around me before supporting a team called something like Sayfaamptin, Salamptun or Saamtin. If it helps it pronounced South-ampton.

I'm going to have to sack my ITK if that's it, that's not quite how he explained it. The lower part's probably correct (stripes, no sh*t!) then the blank white panel (for the Virgin logo) then above that, well, a variation on the..oh let's just wait and see who's right tomorrow.

I've just popped on to see how the annual meltdown is progressing and who else got that Universal ad at the top of the page saying "It's never too early to start panicking"? It's also never too late to grow a backbone for some of our 'supporters'. Welcome Claude Paul.
