  1. Can't see it discussed on here..sorry if it has been... But what was with the note? Not sure why Puel would copy Klopp and start giving notes to be taken on the pitch? Like Klopp's it didnt work, and Martina, obviously trying to recover the situation, decided to use it as a shin pad? Is it because the St Mary's is so noisy that managers can't get there views across to the teams?
  2. A fantastic reward for the fans... Can't stop smiling!
  3. Just looked it up as the linked article says he was 18 at that time. He signed for us when he was 17 and two months. IMO it's a bit loose to call him an academy product but then again you can choose what country you play for if you have been there once these days so why not! Lol.
  4. Does Stephens really qualify as an academy player? We bought him when he was around 17 or 18. Might have been 16 maybe at a push? Some players have won world cups at 17 so not sure how players coming in at that age would be classed as a product of our academy?
  5. Liverpool did it in 2001 and Chelsea in 2007 as well as arsenal in the nineties.
  6. I am sure that's the league title and FA cup.."the double" I thought Liverpool and Chelsea did in in the 2000's.
  7. Good performance and again shows that-like the Liverpool game- if we play (arguably) our strongest line up then we have a good side. Hopefully we might now see a bit of stability in the team selection. Was Hojbjergs miss as bad as it looked from the far end of the ground? Not home to see a replay yet?
  8. Now we have lost another player with a song and there isn't many left, I will need to know the words to the 'Kat out, the Chinese in" song please. Also do we change the VVD one to "we've got VD, VVD, I just don't think you understand, he's anybodies man, who'll pay him a hundred grand, we'll sell VVD."
  9. You said this : K Long before anyone mentioned "boring" so justifying your position like this; Doesn't hold any water. The fact is you have "castigated" our fans calling them "helmets" on two occasions in this thread, for not being uber fans like you. However in the Norwich thread you said you hadn't gone to the home cup game. You also tried to justify that position in this thread. How exactly is attending a semi final making you a better fan than anyone else, especially when you didn't go on Wednesday? I thought only utter helmets didn't go to support the lads? You attend the semi final with Liverpool but won't turn up to support the lads in the third round of the FA cup a week later? Don't you realise - without getting through those early rounds there cannot be a semi final for you to become all high and mighty over? Having a pop at your fellow saints fans is ok but if you are doing it, you need to be whiter than white. Not a glory hunter!
  10. Lol... So you don't "support the he boys" at Norwich at home but because you go to a major cup semi final you are the uber fan? Made yourself look stupid there.... By the way I am not going to Anfield but if we get through I am going to Wembley! Nothing you can do to stop me either...ha ha ha ha.... :-)
  11. If I remember right we have only scored more than one goal at home in a league game once this season?
  12. I think this but they are more likely to get a breakaway goal and win 0 1. Our current style will probably suit them but I thought we shaded it at their place.
  13. Perhaps he just doesn't get on with Puel, maybe he disagrees over tactics, selection or the fact we just don't play our strongest team regularly? Having the captain undermining the manager just wouldn't work. The club obviously would have sided with Puel/Black so nothing left to do but leave. Shame really he has been great for us.
  14. TBF as soon as they get the chance they had off somewhere else for a bigger pay day.
  15. Agree with these..would be very interesting!
  16. Everyone knows it so might as well say it! Fair play I say..why keep up any pretence? And with that business model are we any less likely to get 7th as a west brim or Stoke? No not really. Are we going to win less cups? Well we only won one ever so that's a no... I hope he now parks all that champions league, best of the rest crap, regular European place to and just gets on being what they designed the club to be..self sustaining, the odd challenge for a better place but primary- a good shop window. There is no doubt we will go down at some point as we take our turn with the bournemouths, norwich's , west broms and Leicesters of the world...we are what we are.. Mid size club behind the likes of Villa Newcastle, Leeds etc who will also get their turn at the top table!
  17. Yes we wouldn't lose at home to Chelsea would we? We definately need goals from somewhere..personally I think it's the formation and player motivation but it could be they are just rubbish! 19 in 21 games is really bad and shows that its is every week rather than a slump. I do think another manager would get more goals out of this set of players. However I think Puel gets consistency of performance from them with his set up.
  18. not sure even if we won today there would be much to play for in the league?
  19. More settled team, just a few changes. Puel can't be blamed for a poor performance today IMO.
  20. I Lol so you are admitting the poster before was right and you were wrong? First time ever! Yes Les is contradicting himself now and backtracking but the fact is he said it and you were wrong saying he didn't. You are such a bellend. I don't believe we could ever compete for champions league on a regular basis and have never asked us to... I am just saying it is what Les said and now I have proved it..you are saying but yesterday he said something different! So if he says tomorrow he was aiming for league one..that makes what he said yesterday null and void does it? I would never apologise to a c u n t like you.
  21. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/32510554 Reed has often spoke of the aspiration for champions league in 5 years and the need to be a regular top 6 side in that time (here's one example) ...so CB Fry (the ****) can make up his own past to suit his own agenda as much as he likes but it doesn't make him right. For me as our squad is the ninth most expensively assembled in the premier league and the 20th most expensive in Europe what I think as acceptable goals are: League 10th/11th..anything above is over achieving anything lower is underachieving. Europa league..going out in a group with two minnows in it and two teams with a massively less budget then ours is a failure. League cup.TBF ..the cups depend on the draw...given our draw so far and how seriously other teams took it Puel has achieved as much as can be expected. If we get to the final he will have overachieved. FA Cup..again given the draw we should go through, how far we get depends again on the draw and how serious the opposition take it...draw arsenals second team and we need to go through, draw Man City's first team and going through is over achieving. RK over achieved in the league but didn't achieve anywhere near in the cups(or Europe).
  22. Palace was in the FA cup.
  23. Yes and I would understand that but since our exit from the Europa league Puel has rotated heavily between league games..someone else said we had a league team and a Europa league team, well I would say at the moment we have no such thing. 6 changes between league games just means we are playing a weakened side every game and getting the results that that sort of rotation deserves. The teams we lost to were poor...Everton, palace, hull, wha etc If he was playing the strongest team each week in the league with a few tweaks then wholesale changes in the cups I would understand.
  24. You make it sound quite exciting and like we were a kick away from progressing. I suppose technically you might be right but we didn't look like scoring and you could easily say that was the same situation the year before. Actually in a very poor group -where both teams that went through have absolutely no chance of getting anywhere in the competition - we only won twice, without winning a game away. If we take each team as a two leg knock out match we lost on away goals to both beer Sheeva and Milan. (Which is what they do in the event of a tie on points and why, despite a superior goal difference, we went out) The only team we would have beaten was Sparta due to a good first game. So not much different to the year before where we beat one team over two legs then lost to a pretty poor side in the next one. I would say that qualifies as bombing out as it was a pretty poor campaign really. Going to Milan and playing them at home was great but with the exception of Sparta at home it was all very disappointing performance wise.
  25. Has Delli Alli played in pretty much every champions league game and a part in every league game for Spurs? He definately played the three games over Christmas. He also scored 6 goals in those three games. Spurs also play a much higher tempo than us and press for the best part of 90 minutes. Despite their players being much fitter than our team (therefore working harder outside of the games themselves) and playing as many games ...lots of Spurs players have managed without the level of rotation we have had. AND they are still in touch with those two teams who aren't playing in Europe (Liverpool and Chelsea). So some people may have a simplist view etc" but perhaps Its actually that some level of rotation is required but Puel has taken it to an extreme so we never actually get our strongest team on the pitch together anymore as he has decided to make 6 changes every game which perhaps is why our form has tailed off?
